Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
I had an exam I couldn't miss so I was unable to preorder one, I plan to camp out and try to get one the night they come out, any idea what time I'd need to start spending my time in a 24 hour wal mart? I'm assuming it'll take most of my day but if anyone did this for the 360 and has any advice I'd be curious as to how long they waited.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
For this Fall the only game that interests me for the PS3 is Resistance, but it's not worth the hassle for that one game. All the rest of the launch titles are already on the 360 or will be at the time.
Like you Nemesis, I'll wait till next year.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 10-12-2006, 02:44 PM.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
I just got a call from EB. The guy said he was required by management to call everyone who placed a PS3 preorder and read them a disclaimer. Basically stating that "They are not responsible for manufacturer screw ups and that my deposit only guaranteed a spot in line, should there be delays". He said I was #4 of 16 so it shouldn't be a problem and that he was forced to call everyone on the list.
Gamestop stapled a written disclaimer to my receipt with the same wording when I preordered there.
He said the reason why was "5/10 PS3 being manufactured are turning out to be defective". Has anyone else heard something like this?
Take it with a grain of salt though. I repeated him by asking "One out of two are defective?" He says: "No, Five out of ten are"Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
If you are going to buy any Sony products buy the first batch, because Sony only uses the best grade components in their electronic devices. Now don't confuse that with engineering design flaws like the original PS2 models.
The first batch of systems will always get the best most stable CPU, GPU, Memory and Drives. Sony always has alot riding on every new system and they don't want bad press with PS3 malfunctions. As the device becomes more mature then Sony cuts back on the systems to cut cost.
You can tell an obvious difference between a launch DS2 controller and one of the newer ones available. The newer ones feel light and flimsy compared to the launch PS2 controllers.Comment

I use to work for Sony as a tech support rep and I can say that sounds like BS to me as well. You can take this as gospel because this came straight from my supervisor at the time which was right after the PS2 launch.

The email I received from Gamestop today makes it sound like getting a Wii will be damn near impossible as well. They'd probably say that no matter what but it is slightly alarming. I won't be able to swing by until close to 8pm tomorrow night so I don't know what my chances are going to be like.Comment
