Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
I don't know....
It's a hell of a lot of fun though. I wound up having to FORCE myself to stop playing last night at around 2 A.M.
I kept getting stuck on the Captain America solo mission. Those friggin' bombs kept going off on me for some reason. I was hitting the buttons correctly(I thought)...so I don't know what gives.
The Thing is awesome in this game. He practically beat that Giant head guy(the guy with the acronym for a name who asks you the questions) by himself. Captain America and Ironman both got knocked out....so I as Thor just kept killing the guards(and in the process releasing energy and strength) and The Thing took care of BigHead for me.
I need hints!!!

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Figuring out the best angle to fire Caps shield into a room to take out the most enemies is fun. Depending on the shape of the room, you can fire it in, let the door close, and watch it do its thing.
Has anyone played the Kurse side mission? Asgaard is pretty cool.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
This game is a blast. I got away from reading comics around/the Onslaught storyline but to this day have a pretty big collection that goes way back - rarely take them out. But this game has a lot of nice little touches that remind me of the books. Only on the Atlantis level now. They did a pretty good job with differentiating the characters. Some I'm not sure why they're in the game (like Moon Knight) but overall I've had a ball playing as various teams.
I also like how you get boosts for putting your team together a certain way (all XMen, all Avengers, etc.). I played as the FF and fought the Super Skrull on a training mission (there seems to be a lot of unlockable side missions like these too which is cool). Currently playing as the XMen. The game is definitely a worthy purchase; can see myself playing this through several times.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Played the 360 version and some early thoughts:
-Graphics are solid, not the best, but very good for a game of this type.
-The gameplay is X-Men Legends on steroids...but for me, much more fun than XML although I think it's because of the Marvel characters in the game
My team right now is Deadpool, Spider Man, Thor, and Daredevil. I'll swap Thor away for Black Panther (fav comic book character) once I get all the figuresComment

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Man, Captain America is no freakin joke! I defeated FFF with Cap all by himself, the other heroes bit the dust. That shield flying around is beautiful to watch when he throws it around. I also like the way he blocks with his shield. This game is amazingly fun! Best of the series by far.
I had forgotten about Dum Dum Duggan and the whole shield crew. I used to read Nick Fury's comic back in the day and was pleasantly surprised to see Dum Dum in the game. It brought back memories, I used to have a giant marvel comic collection.Comment

I still haven't beaten one of the Training Simulations yet, I've tried CA, Iron Man and The Thing. I've picked up Dr. Strange's but have yet to attempt it.
I really enjoy how there are a lot of RPG things to do in between the missions while at your base. It can get a little monotonous if you are in a hurry but have to run and ask somebody something then give the answer to somebody else, but it really does bring in more of an RPG feel during those off times. And you get to pick up some extra side-mission opportunities.Comment

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
If you were a comic geek who read every Marvel Universe encyclo-comic from cover to cover, this game is a dream come true. Seeing 3rd-tier baddies in videogame form is pretty cool. I can't wait to finish each mission to see who's around the corner. If Batroc the Leaper makes an appearance...

Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
I am really loving this game. The hardest part is who to pick. I put together a team of Cap, Spidey, The Thing and Wolverine and called them the New Defenders.
The only thing missing from the game is the Hulk and it's a shame that legal silliness kept him from us.DON'T PANICComment
