yeah that's true, but I like many other shooters too. I liked both gears (1 more though) and rb6vegas1...I'm currently looking forward to arma2. Do you think that my orientation towards cod causes me not to like L4D as much? I think there is some crossover for people, but maybe there is something to that. If you don't like cod to begin with, it could make you more apt to enjoy l4d ... don't know. I realize people have tons of fun with it and that's cool, but it just didn't happen for me.

Not COD, but I Gears is not a shooter to me. It's too Halo like, and I hate Halo.

Still cant believe you didnt like this game...it's easily top 3 ever on the 360.

I think it probably has something to do with it, and I see a good amount of hardcore COD people saying they don't like L4D as well. Now, in some cases that could just be fanboyism (I called you a COD head jokingly for that reason, since that's what you call a COD fanboy).

They control pretty differently so if you feel comfortable and play one way a lot, it can be a real pain to transfer over to something else.

I don't agree that Halo is like Gears though.

Halo and Gears are different, I agree...

I don't know why L4D really resonates with some and others just put it down in 5 minutes...I guess the group nature of play along with actual teamwork hooked me.

I think there's a lot of people that played COD 4 a lot and now expect every shooter to be similar, otherwise it's not good. Between the controls, the feel of the player, the fluidity, a lot of people think other shooters from COD are "slow", "loose" or "floaty" when they play them.

I guess the people that don't like L4D try to play it as a normal First Person Shooter. if you do that, its probably not a good game. even though the view is in first person, and you have guns, I really don't think of it as a FPS game. more of a strategic action-type game.

There is no strategy in shooting hordes of zombies.

Run, spray, get saved, shoot an exploding tub of lard, get pinned, get saved again, shoot a tongue, click for a saying, reload and die.

And I'm supposed to be proficient in this?

Play online without headsets with strangers and then play the same level and difficulty with friends/regulars with headsets and tell me how you do.

Seriously...Maybe it's just the OS nights or something, but we have a ton of fun as well as using strategy...You can't survive without strategy, especially on higher levels.

I'm not saying its some sort of super strategy game or anything, just you need more strategy than most FPS games. I can play CoD 4 all day and never be forced to use the Mic to win team games. in L4D, if you have players without a Mic, or people that don't communicate, you will not win. you need to coordinate attacks, wait for choke points, etc.. CoD 4 is a great game, but it is also a simple game.

Pretty much. I never use a head set in COD and I do fine, L4D, not so much.
