Did it occur to you that maybe they lost a lot of money because of the price that it's currently selling for vs the cost it takes to build an XBOX. I don't think it has anything to do with the XBOX not flying off the shelves.

Re: Microsoft\'s Xbox losses almost double.
I agree with you there, locally here in Tallahassee Florida it was almost impossible to find an Xbox for the special $199 price, I think Microsoft is losing money just so they can get the units out, they are probably hoping to make the money back via Xbox Live and its fees.Comment

I hope the X-Box wins.
Yes, it's M$, but as opposed to the PS2 and the GC, the best titles are released here first.
With the other two, we get most of the big titles many months later then they come out in Japan.

The best titles are released on the nintendo and they stay there. Its not surprising Xbox is losing money the have only one game that is a system seller and thats Halo. Everything else is either not worth buying an xbox for or is avaible on other consoles

Re: Microsoft\'s Xbox losses almost double.
Ah nothing better then a post from Deception
I just bought another Gamecube to play Zelda, Mario and Metroid, but still you can't be farther from the truth.
Nintendo has a few good games but last I checked they are in 3rd place in hardware sales which is pretty sad when you remember it is the cheapest console of the 3.
And look at all those sports games Gamecube owners have to look forward to... Whoops even EA Sports is abandoning that ship. Oh sure we will see Madden and maybe then NHL series but they are going to stop alot of the other titles and only put them on Xbox and PS2.
All I hope is Nintendo does not make us wait another 6 years for the next Mario. To be honest after 6 years what we got with Mario Sunshine was a bit of a letdown.
And what is killing Nintendo is the lack of 3rd party sales. Each console MFG has made some great games but no console can survive on 1st party software alone.

Re: Microsoft\'s Xbox losses almost double.
I'm not here to bash any systems I just find it hard to believe that a company or any company goes into business to lose money period. Yes they may expect to lose money, but expect to make up that revenue elsewhere.Comment

Give it time dude, the XBOX is starting to hit it's stride.

A company with A LOT OF MONEY can do that. An ordinary company would be ready to throw in the towel but Microsoft is not your average "run of the mill" company.
No one said you were trying to bash systems. I was just making a few valid points to refute your inferences."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: Microsoft\'s Xbox losses almost double.
Bottom line....Microsoft and Billy Boy have more money than GOD and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
I don't see Microsoft bowing out to Sony...Gates is going to go to war to get his piece of the gaming industry pie. It would benefit ALL gamers if there continued to be quality competition for Sony's goliath.AUBURN TIGERS
