Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
To me using the RB guitar is great. It feels more like a real guitar, with the new strum bar, the extra buttons near the body, pressing down the fret board instead of pressing a button on top of the fret board, and the weight. Not every song has a face-melting solo though, the song were picked for a "whole band experience". Some songs the drums shine, other songs its the vocals or guitars that have the bad *** part. Its fun.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

yes you can just buy the game and use your GH guitar (360 not sure about ps3) The game has solo and quick play modes for each instrument. If you have at least two people you can play the world tour mode using any two instruments.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
There is no drum freestyle mode, which is unfortunate, but you can do whatever you want during drum fills, which is nice for creativity. Though you can hook the drums up to your computer if you just want to use them as an electric drum set. I think the instructions are somewhere on Joystiq.com, For anyone interested in the drum aspect of this game, it is a must buy. It's some of the most fun you can have with games and music, and essentially the game is a drum tutorial with an electric drum set similar to the 499 models you'd buy from Guitar Center or Sam Ash.
The guitar mode is much much MUCH easier than GH2 or GH3. There are probably only five songs that you could consider "Expert" level, and at least two of them are in the downloadable Metallica pack, lol. Any expert level GH player will sleepwalk through about 95% of the solo guitar mode and get 4 or 5 stars on their first try. It must be mentioned that the guitar mode is a much better asset during band play. Being able to just hold it down, knock out those rhythms, watch your band mates and always have "star power" ready to save someone is really cool, so the simplicity only hurts people who are buying this game for the GH experience.Comment

This is a VERY good point.
Players who constantly 5-Star Expert-level songs on GHIII and have little interest in the drums will in all likelihood find RB's guitar WAY too easy.Congratulations BUTLER BULL DOGS!

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
I agree. I'm a medium GOD in GH, but i'm five staring a lot of songs on hard in RB.
Really, the guitar is just different in RB compared to GH. Not in a bad or good way for me. Just different, if that makes sense. I still prefer the guitar to the drums, to be honest.
If the DLC keeps a comin' and its at a low enough price, this will be one of the best releases in a long time.Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
Ok guys, sad to say but my drums (actually my bass pedal) has finally stopped working. I say finally because I figured with the wear and tear I and all my friends have put on it, it would soon break. Well it didn't break, but it doesn't respond. I also realize that I started to move up to hard in drums, which required more bass beats, so thats probably why.
Can I ask, when you guys asked for a replacement.. did you guys pay the $125 deposit to send them a replacement ASAP or wait for a box?Comment

How long did it take? Cause I sent in a request on the 21st for a box, and I still haven't received it.
Also, how long did the entire process takes? I'm thinking that maybe I'd rather throw in the $125 deposit cause I'm pretty sure I'll get it back. Not so sure I'll be able to wait.Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
I'm decent in GH3 (I've beaten every song on Hard except One and Raining Blood) and I decided to give Rock Band a shot. I only bought the game by itself, since I don't have much desire to play the drums. I'm kind of disappointed by how easy it is on the hard level. It's a lot different than GH...there's a lot of just hitting the same chords over and over. It's a complete cakewalk compared to GH. If it wasn't for the downloadable content, I think I'd be pretty disappointed. Even so, I'm itching to move back to GH3 just because it's more enjoyable.I agree. Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
My bass pedal broke last night too. My whole drumset has bitten the dust actually, because I had already requested a replacement from EA because my red drum pad was having trouble registering all my hits. So I have been waiting for the replacement and still playing the game in the meantime. I was playing World Tour Mode with my girlfriend yesterday when I begin hearing a "click" from the bass pedal. I examine it and it looked like some small piece might have broken off because when I would press down on the pedal it would not stay straight, it would tilt a bit, hence the clicking. It was still registering though and since we were in the middle of a set I did not want to lose the fans by quiting, so we kept playing. A few songs later, the pedal just broke. The section that is by your heel just broke off the base.Ok guys, sad to say but my drums (actually my bass pedal) has finally stopped working. I hope EA is sending me a "full" drumset and not just new pads, because looks like I need a new bass pedal as well. =(Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions
Playing the game by yourself is really not the way this game was meant to be played. I think RB is a much better experience than Guitar Hero, but ONLY if you are going to play with your friends or at least try the drums (which are fantastic by the way). If all you want to do is play Guitar, then GH might be the better series for you.I'm decent in GH3 (I've beaten every song on Hard except One and Raining Blood) and I decided to give Rock Band a shot.
