The 60-day warranty was always in place, but they just started enforcing it this week, right after my freakin' guitar broke.

Why not just buy the wireless guitar now? It's the same as the bundle except...wireless

I've almost beaten the solo guitar campaign on Expert. I'm stuck on Flirtin' With Disaster (stupid solo) and Green Grass and High Tides. Ugh. Nothing like failing a song about 7 and a half minutes into it. The snake parts get me...where it goes gryrgryrg and so on. Ugh. i think I can maybe handle the rest. Emphasis on maybe.

I sent EA an e-mail complaining about the "enforcing" of the warranty time limit. I said I would buy my replacement guitar from their competitor. I'm sure they don't care, but I figured it was worth a shot.

I'm pretty much just waiting for my guitar (which is my 2nd one) to break so I'll go ahead and buy a Frontman. I never noticed how the frets seem slow to pop back up (on mine, at least) until I went back and played some GH3 with a friend.

On a lighter note, I managed to 5-star Enter Sandman on Expert drums earlier. I got 96% with a 644 note streak. I'm slowly improving.

I don't remember flirting with disaster being difficult, but I can help you with GGaHT. Use the tapping on the repeating parts. When you practice it, pay particular attention to the "tapped" button. So it's "tap"-pattern, "tap"-pattern. The great thing about it, is if you go into the sections and get a small part of it right consecutively, you'll actually raise your meter, rather than lose it, and in a short time.

It sounds simple--practice the tapping--but it's really about how you practice. Practice with a very strong emphasis on the timing of the tap button at a slow speed, and what will happen is rather than missing big chunks of it, your inaccuracies will be reduced to a few times between the tapped notes. If you're lucky, or you practice enough, you'll find that you can "ride" the wave of notes for several consecutive notes, without even having to truly master it.

No luck. Apparently, I e-mailed technical support who said they could not help and directed me to customer support via the phone, who is I already talked to. Guess I'm gonna have to buy a new guitar.

My friend and I actually just beat Flirtin' With Disaster yesterday, with him on expert guitar and me on expert bass, without either of us failing once. We were both dropping down, both were red, then we somehow hit the unison note and saved ourselves for the last minute of the song. It was pretty amazing.

We, actually, almost made it through GGaHT, but I failed out on bass half-way through the second solo and my friend couldn't get any star-power in time. We probably could've passed it, but we both accidentally used our star-power at the same time earlier in the solo.

ahhhh, you're using the explorer...well let me tell you, this is easier with the Rock Band guitar. But still, the principle works. When you practice, use the green as your guide, and then when the pattern switches up, use whatever respective color as your guide button that you strum, and then do ho/po in between. This is actually how guitar players keep track of really fast picking runs in solos.


Funny enough, that's probably the best advantage of playing guitar: problem solving. Since there are no strings, there are physical differences, but mentally the problem solving is the same in the game as it is in real life. Here's a small tip: when you're practicing and you're starting to get it, you might find yourself being great at 70 or 80%, but still being awful at 100% tempo. No worries. Stick on 80% for a while and your ear will adjust to that small rhythm change that you're missing. Hope that helps.

I only tried the song once, then I went into practice mode and could hit most of the notes at 70% speed, so I know I can get there eventually. It's just going to take a lot of practice and a little bit of luck. Frankly, I was surprised I made it as far into the song as I did on my first run.

Honestly, it's worst case scenario. It's a marathon at the end of that song once the solos start. I could hardly believe that those guys were so indulgent with their repetitive soloing. It made it harder to learn the song, because I hate practicing a song I don't like with pretend guitar. But it was the last song I needed, so I did it, and haven't played it since, lmao.

The Pixies' album Doolittle is next week's DLC. Our friends are HUGE Pixies' fans, but I'm not going to download the whole thing. I'll probably get a few songs.
