    Re: Guitar Hero 3

I've never played Guitar Hero before, and doing so would be an investment, as I'd have to buy a guitar as well as the game.

I am on PlayStation2? Is the most recent game good enough to make it a worthwhile investment?

For the ps2, you figure that you have 4 games to choose from, 3 of them most likely discounted ( gh1, gh2, gh:80's). So get gh3 with the guitar and get the rest of the games at reduced prices.

        Neat, thanks.

My buddy picked it up for the Wii and I'll likely be checking it out in the near future. Like I said, I haven't played it before, but I've heard good things.

Having never played this game or a real guitar, this is hard. That being said it is very fun.

I am about to start Tier 7. Great setlist so far, only not feeling Barracuda (I am not a Heart *****, just hate this song) and Holiday in Cambodia (at least the Dead Kennedy's fans are happy). 2 out of 30 or so, that is a great percentage.

Can anyone out there actually beat levels on expert difficulty?

And if you can, do you memorize the patterns?

It seems impossible to beat a song on expert on your first try.

Just takes practice. I played the hell out of GH2. I get about 85-90% on my first try on most songs on expert. I'm on tier 3 I believe, the UK tier.

With some repeating playing, I can usually get up to 95 to sometimes 100%.

There are a ton available at Best Buy. They gave away a free Sex Pistols one. It will be hitting ebay shortly.

Ah. I hadn't looked and I didn't see anybody saying anything about them.

Edit: Looks like faceplates are only available at Best Buy for the moment.

I just came home with the Wii version and my wife and I have been playing it (trading 1 guitar back and forth) for over the past hour. LOVE IT so far!

This is the first GH I have ever played, so we're playing on medium, but it's good so far. Feeling the guitar vibrate on star power is sweet as is hearing the bad notes kick out of the Wiimote speaker. The graphics are typical Wii, but the fretboard looks just like the 360 version, and that's all that really matters.

They had the 360 version at Wal-mart, but only had it packed with the wired X-Plorer controller, so for the same price, I could get the Wii version and be wireless. Also, IGN was saying in their final preview that you had to navigate to the game in the Wii menu with the Wiimote first and then put it in the guitar. That's a load of crap! I put the Wiimote in first, and all the buttons on it are exposed and the joystick on the guitar moves the hand cursor around the Wii Menu just fine. I don't know what IGN was doing at all.

All in all, very happy with the Wii version and look to adding you guys to my friends list and battling online with the Wii!

P.S. Oh, and by the way, the Wii version uses a different friend code than your system (imagine that). I will be adding my GH3 friend code in my sig when I get back to find the # in the game.

also....anyone know when individual Wii guitars will be for sale and where? I know all the other systems can use old guitars (ps3 can use ps2 guitars with an adapter, right?), but those of us with the Wii are screwed for 2-player games for a while otherwise.
