Anyone have any tips on what level you should be when you try to do the National Archives quest? Im almost a six, but there are alot of super mutants around and those things still scare the **** out of me.

Also do you ever find a siper rifle?

I haven't done the National Archives quest yet.....
But on Super Mutants, I've begun to use frags and frag mines.
I also try a lot of duck and cover....pop out...VATS their limbs and pop back behind cover.
      There is a sniper rifle.
Here is a spoiler to where I found it

Also it uses .308 Ammo....and except for the rounds that came with it....I haven't seen any more of it, so I've already sold that gun to Craterside.

I agree with knight. I use of Frags on Super mutants, 1 on a mutant will make them limp slow and do good damage, then use a hunting rifle to target there firing arm, causing more damage and take away the threat of being shot. Forcing them to look for a weapon OR rush u slowly limping.

          Awesome guys.

So what level are you at? Is level 5/6 to early to be running around DC? Im doing this one cause I want to stay away from the main quest, but I cant help but feel a bit underpowered.

Whats another good place on the map to look for quest to build up xp and inventory?

I'm playing on hard and didn't do well downtown until level 9 or 10. I was late deciding where to put some points though - small guns or lasers - so I was splitting them early on. That was a mistake, need to pick one or the other early and raise it fairly quickly.

Couldn't find the parts for the kabob thing. There was supposed to be the motorcycle stuff by the school but the motorcycle was on fire and I couldn't get anything. Then they were supposed to be in the Super Duper Mart and there wasn't any there either. Did find a normal sword and just used that to cut peoples heads off.

Tenpenny has a sniper rifle and one of the people in Megaton have a scoped 44.

I'm at level 20. Doesn't seem to be any difference other than health.

Forget the sniper rifle, the Lincoln Repeater is where it's at.

I haven't been able to get a sidekick. Also there's a sniper perk.

I'm also playing on hard and was able to go into D.C. at level 4(I got leveled up to 5 when I found Three Dog.)....but I've been putting my points into stealth, repair and one other that doesn't have to do with weapons really(forgot...sorry..maybe science, but I think it's something else like that).
The reason I think I'm able to go through D.C. at a lower level is because of the stealth...I get a lot of surprise critical hits AND I'm able to stay hidden until I can get myself into a position to hit and hide or hit and run and set up again.
As for XP points and inventory so far my two best pickup place have been

I'm not sure where you've been putting your XP goh...but just at level 5 I've gotten enough in repair to fix some guns a little and some armor...and my lockpicking is super already. Two or three more level ups and I should be able to go and pick the lock on Burkes house in Megaton. I'd like to see what he's got in there!
I did take Education? and it looks like it'll be a big help in improving skills and specials easily.

Quick question: What do I have to do for the armory in megaton to be opened ??? Do I have to lockpick my way in?

I pretty much used my points and perks to get an infinte supply of VATS. Didn't seem to work out right untill I got the sniper rifle. Then I decided to take out everyone in Tenpenny with the ripper. Eventually even though the doors were closed and no one saw it the common problem of still getting in trouble for it occured (even with a silenced pistol),I turned it off and deleted my saves (rental going back tomorrow). You can still use the ripper after they're dead and cut them up more so that's cool.

Can someone tell me the name of the final quest in the main storyline? Just so I know when I'm almost done and can not do it until I want too, since the game ends and you can't explore afterwards.
