Might not work for Halo because it is a respawn type game but if there were a Team Survival mode like GRAW it would be cool to start out in a "combat room" ala The Matrix where you pick and choose your weapons, each team gets similar types of weapons.

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
Well the one thing is how hard the weapons are to get to. The rockets or snipers are usually in a dangerous part of the map. They might be high up on some platform but they are usually out in the open where you can be easily shot or grenaded. Plus some of the maps are symmetrical with the same weapon spawns in each base, so it would be cheap if the rockets or sniper spawned in one teams base when they are normally in the middle of the map.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
the weapon spawns are a very strategic part of halo.
making them appear in random spots would be a terrible idea.
Some games you get lucky and spawn closer to a weap than the other team. Sometimes you dont. It evens out over the longrun.
Plus when playing with a team, weapon spawns are good verbal locators when talking with your team.
For example, we are playing lockout.... "he's down by the sword"
everyone instantly knows what i am talking about.Last edited by dagger55; 03-08-2007, 02:33 PM.Comment

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
Not confirmed unless Bungie says it, but it would make sense.
Halo 3 Slated for September
Microsoft pushes for early fall system-selling spree to kick off holiday season.
Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie Studios aim to ship Halo 3 in September, well before the biggest holiday rush begins, IGN learned last week from two independent sources who asked to remain anonymous.
A big-name publisher and well-established development house separately revealed to IGN that Microsoft intends on beating this year's stacked holiday rush with a September release, rather than the assumed November timeframe.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
Like mentioned earlier in this thread, if they had random weapon spawning it would ruin the game. It takes one day to findout where all the weapons are for probably half the maps. By the first week you should have an idea of where they are atleast. If you put random weapon spawning it would take out so much strategy thats involved in the game, everyone would be either running around with sucky weapons that spawn near them or they would get lucky and spawn near rockets or a sword.
Team Hardcore is the best playlist in Halo 2. You start out with a Battle rifle so you are able to shoot people further away then you would with an SMG and its more powerful. If you shoot someone 3 times with a BR and then get the 4th shot in the head they are dead. I suggest anyone who hasn't played Team Hardcore to get a couple of friends together and play it one night, IMO it's the best and most well balanced playlist in Halo 2.Comment

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
Well said CK- a good deal of the strategy of Halo is strategically getting to where those weapons spawn. It's by no means a given that you beat the opponent to those sites. I don't want people luckily stumbling onto a rocket launcher.

Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
There is no strategy with people running towards the best weapons and then killing people. If the weapons spawned randomly then there would be actual strategy involved in a match.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Halo 3: Behind the Scenes
I think that news is more about how MS wants to support GTA IV and show Rockstar they have love for them. By doing this, MS is saying, release your game with no external factors in the way.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
