Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Damn you guys have got through this game quick!
I am in love with this game. I have to ration myself to only 1-2 hours everyday or I could easily just sit there and play it all day.
I just made it past traffic last night and I really don't want this to end. It's like heavy rain (a game I loved) but I feel much more in control of proceedings. I can easily see myself going back and redoing many of the cases.
Rockstar have done it again and I'm proud to have an Aussie company involved it the making of it.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
You can tell I haven't had much time to play until tonight, when you look at all the posts in this thread.
I just finished A Marriage Made in Heaven.
This game is awesome. I got 4 stars and it seemed like a fairly easy case to crack, I only got 6/8 questions and 8/9 clues.
SpoilerI messed up by not going to visit the driver of the vehicle. I had planned on going there after visiting with the wife, but I got the message from the coroner and it seemed urgent. I figured I would be better off knowing everything I could before I went to visit the driver.. oh well.. I'll know next time when I replay the game.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
You hit it right on the head with me.Spoilers from after Manifest Destiny case
SpoilerSo because he goes to the club he is obviously nailing a singer at the club? Crazy talk. It never showed them talking or interacting at all, not even an acknowledgement of him entering. Then during the case you talk to her, without any sort of inkling that you and her are even acquainted, and then you tail her and sneak up to her room, sheepishly knock, she opens the door and you go in like it's nothing. It makes no sense.
As for the war flashbacks, if anything it shows Cole as an absolute, by the book guy. It shows a guy unwilling to bend any regulation no matter if it saves lives or fits the realities of the battlefield. A guy like that, unwilling to bend the rules to speed up his unit's progress, unwilling to bend rules to save lives, is going to break his vows, break the law and put his career in jeopardy on a whim like that? We aren't even given any sort of circumstance to justify his change of character.
I also don't like that the game seems to have cut us off from large chunks of Cole's life. We are supposed to be Cole in this game, but yet we are absent for his life outside of each case? It feels like a cheap way to fabricate a surprise twist.
____
As for the discussion on taking down fleeing cars, I was disappointed that we couldn't do a PIT maneuver as well. It seems the only real way to take down a car is to get your partner to shoot both tires.
During one case I was chasing a guy so I drove up beside him, my partner shoots out his tires and the suspect begins to lose control so I hit the brakes and turn to slide to a stop and the other car proceeds to flip and land on top of my car. I got out and had to wait for the car to slowly slide off of my car before the suspect would get out and I could take him down.SpoilerI feel that either rockstar got lazy there or they had absolutely no intention on you giving a crap by then. There was no indication that cole was going to do or had and reason to do the deed with random Elsa. That was the most random thing rockstar has ever pulled to me. By the end of the game, with no help by having you play 3 hours as Jack, I didnt even give a damn about cole. There was absoluetly no character development in him. And that may be a weird thing to ask of a video game character but being such a cinematic driven game, it was called for.Comment

It's all in the eyes.
Check the evidence before choosing lie or doubt.
However even then they might go off on something else if you pick lie, like in the Gamestop pre-order case for example (not much of a spoiler here)...
Spoilerthey're talking about an engagement ring,I picked lie based on the shiftyness and there being various rings involved and then they asked for proof of the victim being a call girl which had nothing to do with what was being talked about.

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Just finished the game.
SpoilerAm I the only one who liked Kelso more than Phelps? Maybe it was because he didn't have any police restrictions, but the way he handled interrogations with the guys like Benson and Monroe was awesome.
Also not entirely sure how I feel about the ending. It definitely wasn't the strong point of the story and I thought it peaked after you bust in on Monroe. Chasing down Tex felt like a letdown after digging up all the dirt on the politicians and going after Monroe.
When you're driving with Phelps in the last mission, trying to get the cops off Kelso, I swear his car was the equivalent of a tank. The entire game I never really had that much success spinning out other cars unless my partners shot out their tires. In this mission though I was spinning out cars left and right on first hit. I spent a good minute just driving to the tunnels with no one on me because I spun them all out.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
And I thought I was the only one who noticed that. I was able to spin out cars, flip them over and everything with ease. I thought to myself where have you been this whole game ?
The ending......was kind of chopped off to me. I felt like it could have went on for 6 or 8 more cases.
Maybe they saving it for DLC I guess.Comment

Like I said before, Cole was a vapid character and the storyline proved as much. DLC for Kelso please and thank your!Comment

SpoilerJust finished as well, and I agree. I kind of felt that the story started to come apart after Vice, and would say it peaked during Homicide.
