    Re: Diablo 3

Finally got around to getting my Wizard through Hell (and Level 60) yesterday.

I know this game takes a lot of heat (and deservedly so for some design decisions) but I still enjoy it more than any other ARPG (including TL2 and PoE).

Holding out for Grim Dawn. Until then I'll probably level a Demon Hunter.

Diablo III To Hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 3

IRVINE, Calif.—June 6, 2013—A new legion of heroes will soon rise up and take a stand against the Lord of Terror. On September 3, Diablo® III will make its console debut on the Sony PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft in the U.S., Canada, Spanish-speaking Latin America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

In preparation for the upcoming launch, select retailers in these regions are now taking preorders for the PS3™ and Xbox 360 versions of the game, which will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99. Both console versions of Diablo III will be fully localized in English, German, French, Latin American Spanish, European Spanish, Russian, Italian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Further release details, including retail availability in Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia, will be announced at a later date.

The console versions of Diablo III have been custom-tailored for gamepad-driven action, with a dynamic camera perspective that puts your hero front and center, as well as an all-new user interface and an intuitive control system that make vanquishing evil feel like second nature. Players can take on the vile denizens of the Burning Hells alone or in a party of up to four via same-screen local cooperative play or online over PlayStation® Network™ or the Xbox Live® online entertainment network from Microsoft. In addition, the game supports parties composed of both local and online players. Once gamers experience the rush of Diablo III’s unique brand of hack-and-slash gameplay from the comfort of their couch, Sanctuary will never be the same.

Players who preorder either console version of Diablo III will receive an exclusive in-game item: the Infernal Helm, which grants an experience point boost to any character who wears it, accelerating their progression as they rise in power. Certain retailers will also offer limited-edition preorder bonuses—check with your local retailer for further information.

“Playing Diablo III on a big screen with your friends brings a whole new level of intensity to the game, and with all of the control and interface adaptations we’ve made, it’s extremely fun to play on PS3™ and Xbox 360,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to the fine-tuning we’ve done for the console versions, we’re also including major content and design updates we’ve made to the PC version over the past year, so players can expect an epic Diablo gaming experience when the PS3™ and Xbox 360 versions launch in September.”

PS4 was confirmed at its unveiling and now with a 360 version confirmed, I would say it's very likely coming to Xbox One too. Probably a launch title for both.

That sounds like a personal problem, not a problem with the game.

Xbone is going to be like Diablo 3. Everyone buys it, plays it for a obscene amount of hours, then goes on the interwebs and declare how much they hated it.

Except that is false. You do realize those obscene number of hours are greatly helped by all the bots running correct? I know people that ran 16 bots at a time near 24/h a day. They made a pretty penny off the rmah suckers and got their refunds.

Everyone I know in the real world got a refund for their purchase.

Look, if you're exited for the Xbox good for you. Enjoy it if you want to, but don't act like MS isn't ****ting all over the consumer.

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion announced

This new installment in the series is being described as a "feature-rich expansion." Reaper of Souls introduces the new Crusader class which brings the total of playable classes to six, an increased level cap to 70, a new act and new reigning enemy Malthael.
Reaper of Souls will also feature new monster types. This includes the range casting Seraphs, the summoner of the dead, the hulking Executioners and the fallen Death Maidens. In the tradition of the Diablo series, the new Westmarch environment will be entirely randomizable, and this is where players will begin their trek.
Blizzard is emphasizing its loot system, calling this new system "loot 2.0." The game will feature fewer loot drops but better loot over all. The expansion will feature a new addition called "Smart Drops" which offers a percentage chance that legendary items dropped are aimed toward your class.

Reaper of Souls will on average offer users 73 white items, 266 blue items, 83 yellow items and six legendary items. In other words, players will on average see legendary items drop more often than before while the number of lesser items is greatly reduced.

The game also introduces a new artisan, the mystic, who is able to both transmogrify items which changes their appearance and enchant them which re-rolls their affixes.

Finally, Blizzard is also working to offer different options to Diablo 3's endgame. This includes 15-to-20 minute loot runs and upgrades to the game's paragon system. The paragon system is now account-wide and will affect all characters on a single account. Additionally, there will no longer be a restriction to paragon points used to tweak the statistics of any of your characters.
                      ...

Base game changes will be included in a "2.0 patch" for all Diablo 3 players

Hopefully it adds as much to the core game as LoD did for D2. Story and environments definitely appear darker in tone.

Only 1 character? Haven't Diablo expansions typically added 2 chars each time?

                          Anyhow, new Loot 2.0 mechanism.

Doubtful, Blizzard never releases anything sooner than a year after a reveal.

What I don't get is Diablo 3 is coming to X360 and PS3 and they are selling it for $59.99. It's a year and a half old game, and they want full price? I thought I'd pick it up and give the game a go again if it was $39.99, but I'm not paying full price for a game I didn't enjoy the first time around. The comfort of my favorite recliner only goes so far towards purchasing a game a 2nd time.
