Re: Diablo 3
After playing the demo, I've jumped on the Torchlight 2 bandwagon. Wasn't a huge fan of the cartoony visuals at first, but they're growing on me.
Probably my favorite thing about it is the skill tree and the ability to level up your toon however you want. I enjoyed D3, and poured in more than enough hours to say I got my money's worth, but the lack of customization kind of made me lose interest. The further I got in the game, I just didn't really care about leveling up.
Torchlight feels like a lot WoW from a leveling standpoint. You have 3 skill trees to pour points into, but it's not a tiered system where you have to put in so many in one tree to unlock the best skills. I'm playing a mage, and can mix and match fire/ice/electricity if I want without missing out on the high level skills. Now Playing

Re: Diablo 3
No, more curious than anything else. They've always talked about having Diablo2 on consoles and yet never did, but now D3 is finally doing it. Very curious as to how it will play via a controller, and was willing to buy again at a fair price, up to $40 seemed right to me. Think a 1.5 year old game is worth full price?Comment

Anyways, you know they made Diablo 1 for the PS1 ? I have it on my psp, but haven't gotten around to checking it out yet though. The original Diablo did have the best atmosphere, music, and artstyle out of all of them.Comment

Re: Diablo 3
I will add that I love ARPGS in general. Usually when I'm dissatisfied with a follow up it's because it doesn't live up to the standards of it's predecessor and D3 definitely falls in that category.Comment

Re: Diablo 3
I'm contemplating giving D3 a shot on PS3. Despite being disappointed by D3 on PC, mainly due to always having to be online and the RMAH, I enjoyed the game. I dropped probably 100 or so hours before moving on.
Since the PS3 version can be played without being online, I think i'll enjoy it more. Sometimes i'm in the mood for an ARPG to kill some time, and having one on consoles will be nice. I'll probably Gamefly it to see how it is before deciding on a purchase.Comment

^ I feel the same way. Sixty dollars is a little too steep for me right now. I will wait right before the PS4 comes out to hold me over.Comment

I'm waiting for the PS4 version and by that time the expansion could be out.
Here's a couple console reviews:
Eurogamer - 9
In some respects, this is obviously a port. The tiny font sizes will have you squinting at anything less than a huge TV, and it takes a few minutes to learn your way around a menu system that has been designed for flexibility and blinding speed rather than approachability (a very wise choice, by the way). But there are dozens of lovely touches to smooth the transition, like the at-a-glance icons that tell you how an item will affect your damage, armour and health if you equip it.If anything, with all your skills under the fingers of one hand and direct character control, you can now play more instinctively. An evade move on the right stick, which lets you change position while attacking - never possible in the PC game - is a massive boon. The biggest beneficiaries of the move from mouse to pad are the melee classes, the Monk and Barbarian. The latter feels especially right, unleashing his mighty slams as you drum the buttons, brawling away. But the ranged Wizard and Demon Hunter also play beautifully. It's only the indirect style of the Witch Doctor, with his summons and skills that do progressive damage over time, which feels like an awkward fit.Diablo 3 on console is one of the best co-op games money can buy. It swings smoothly from easygoing to intense, with perfectly paced pockets of downtime, and is capable of swallowing entire evenings in a single, voracious gulp. It's a Lego game for loot-hungry grown-ups and it gets better with every player you add. If you have co-op partners who would also enjoy it, this version is an essential purchase. If you don't, it's still easier to recommend than the PC game; almost as slick, even more flexible and usable and without that troublesome always online requirement.

The biggest change awaiting console gamers is the new control scheme, which eschews the series’ traditional point-and-click interface for direct control of your character’s movement via the left stick and a new directional dodge move performed with the right stick. These changes don’t transform Diablo III into God of War, but they do result in more responsive character movement and more engaging combat overall.
...
Despite the new console-friendly control scheme, all of the tactical depth and character build options are still here, along with an endless stream of randomly generated loot, enemies, and levels that beg for multiple playthroughs.Unfortunately, the inventory redesign doesn’t fare as well. The radial menu for viewing and selecting equipment is decent, but comparing item attributes is more time consuming than the PC version. Thankfully, Blizzard has included a junk function, allowing you to mark equipment for mass sale/salvage. All items now take up a single inventory slot (the PC version’s puzzle-like element of fitting different-sized items into your inventory is gone), which cuts down on trips back to town, but I still spent a lot of time managing my loot.Equally important is what Blizzard has excluded from the console version. Console players don’t need to create a Battle.net account, and can play the game offline to their heart’s content. The gold and real-money auction houses have also been scrapped; gamers have mixed feelings on whether the auction houses helped or hindered the game and Blizzard’s attempt to balance it. Either way, the developer is skipping the grand experiment on consoles and has tweaked loot drops to be more relevant to players. The new 4-player couch co-op is less appealing; hacking and slashing enemies with everyone on the same screen is certainly fun, but the game’s complexity works against you. Players must share loot drops, and bringing up the inventory pauses the game for everyone. A quick equip option keeps players out of menus as much as possible, but it doesn’t convey the magic attributes of items, and you need to take turns pausing the action to assign new skills. I can see the setup working for dedicated two-person teams, but larger parties are probably better off playing together online.
The console version of Diablo III is different from the PC version, and some diehard fans will denounce it for that reason alone. For me, however, it’s different in all the right ways. With an engaging new control scheme, fewer online hurdles, and all the depth of the original, taking on Diablo’s legion of demon lords has never been more enjoyable.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Nice to see that Blizzard did a great job porting over to console for the first time. Bright things ahead for the PS4.Comment

Re: Diablo 3
Maybe thinking about getting it on PS3 now. PS4 wouldn't really add anything beyond a resolution increase to 1080p and it's not coming out until next year. It would be nice to know if they plan to offer a PS3 to PS4 trade-up promo for this too.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Diablo 3
It seems the console version will already feature some systems from Loot 2.0. This along with no online hurdles, couch co-op, and no AH, makes this version really enticing.
From the Eurogamer review:
There's a little less loot and it's a lot better quality, as well as being more likely to be useful to the class that you're playing, making it more toothsome overall. (If anything, Blizzard has gone overboard here; I had three Legendary items equipped by level 20, and I found one of them in a pot in the sewers.)
And here's a screenshot of a level 63 Legendary showing up at level 31 on console - confirming the rolling of Legendaries at all levels.

Re: Diablo 3
Blizzard must have the worst security for any major company I've ever had to deal with. I don't play D3 or SC2 anymore and I haven't touched WOW since it came out. Yet my blizzard account is routinely compromised even after password changes. Just this morning I got another email stating that my account activity was suspicious and it was suspended (again). In fact, it was banned at one point, so I had to reach out to blizzard to unban it. So I've changed my password...yet again. I don't have this issue with any other games/logins, so..**** getting an authenticator and **** you blizzard!
The only upside was that after my account was unbanned, blizzard didnt roll back the d3 character that the person who stole my account was using. So I had a max level char with absurd equipment (of course i dont play, so it doesnt matter).Comment

Re: Diablo 3
Agreed. That or people in China are really, really bored. One of my family members account was hacked (not mine thankfully... though I haven't logged-in in awhile now...). They took all their items. Even played their chars for a bit. lolComment
