as a HUGE Diablo fan I tried like heck to get into WoW but never could, mostly because of one thing, in WoW you really HAVE to be a part of a big party and you don't have to be a part of a party in Diablo. In fact you can play entirely on your own, which is sometimes just how I like it.

Secondly, WoW has a crazy amount of weird terminology I never learned. A guy at work tried to explain it to me but it sounded crazy. I remember him talking on and on about "dots" and whatnot. WTF? I just wanted to play a game, build a character and get some cool loot, not learn a whole new language and engage in a whole new culture.

I just never could get into WoW but I tried, because like you I thought WoW looked like a big multi-player Diablo. But after having played it awhile I realized it just looks very vaguely similar due to it being the same company, they really are not anything like at all once you've spend time with both.

Level 52 barbarian right now, enjoyed normal, loved nightmare, getting crushed on hell, and wondering what inferno will be like. I had my first legendary drop near the end of nightmare, but its for the witch doctor.

I liked D2 but didn't feel the hype for D3 and had no plans to grab it, but I'm really glad I did.

I read there were some nerfs handed out this morning. I had no idea about this but apparently as a demon hunter if you specced Preparation and Smoke Screen you could have 12 seconds of invulnerability to just stand their and whack on a mob. If you used Nightbane ( You have a chance to regain discipline the resource used for Smoke Screen when you crit - for those non DH) as a passive and stacked crit you could go as long as 18 sec +. They reduced how long Smoke Screen last by 1 sec. I was doing fine in inferno without it. I just abuse the hell out of traps and terrain.

I'm in act 2 now doing just fine.

Ziltch. Only important stats on an item are + to stats and magic find pretty much. I'm actually pretty disappoint with how items are in D3 on the whole be honest.

I have never been into Diablo before and didn't feel the hype like a poster above. HOWEVER I will say that the commercials at launch + my own weakness for new games got the better of me.

I am glad I did. The game is fun and I think more accessible for those of us who aren't experienced Diablo players. I like how each class feels different. I started with a monk but was hooked after trying the DH. I like the machine gun feel of rapid fire in act 1. I am also fond of the trap slowing down enemies and the back flip for getting away.

Even though it gets repetitive...I like the conversation between the DH and the Templar especially when he asks him if there are any women in his order.

a quick tip for those who like to cruise the auction house. Try making one of the searchable parameters "reduced level requirement." This way you'll find items specifically for your class, and they tend to be a lot better than stuff you currently have equipped. I found a 2-hand staff for my monk that did twice as much DPS and had a socket. Just make sure to cap a buyout price.

A cap on the buyout price is essential for me. It weeds out all the crazy "5,000,000 gold for a unique low level item" items. And if you make it low enough you can find some really great deals (just got a really nice weapon for my Barb when he hits level 60).

If you are I suggestbuying some cheap +vit and what ever your main stat is gear. Then get a decent weapon with a socket and put the best ruby you can in it. That should help you kill things faster and also survive a bit if you do get hit.

I've been gearing with dex and vit gear throughout and that definitely helps for survival and damage. I would also recommend splashing out on good weapon as well because dps is important in the later acts.

I will likely be min maxing more in the higher levels for dex and vit, but for normal, stacking the primary stat and vitality helps a lot

I just beat the game on normal with my DH and going to try out nightmare later. I didn't have really any problems in Act III or IV and I was dealing around 400 DPS with my DH when I beat the game on normal. Since I've begun to play Diablo 3 I've become quite addicted to increasing my DPS number and I wonder if you guys have any tips for getting that number higher? I saw on a couple forums, some players had their damage in the in the low four figure range, so just wondering is there a trick to stacking weapons or armor to increase dex and have that significantly increase your DPS?

                        Thanks

It's "damage" on the main status window. Mouse over it and you'll see the DPS explanation.

Hit I and bring up your inventory screen, it should be the last number on the top left of that screen that pops up.
