    Re: Diablo 3

I just got back to Tristram after rescuing Leah’s uncle from the Cathedral. Didn’t die once. Been shield bashing, rolling and repeating with some weapon work mixed in. Just picked up a sword with 10.5 DMG. Lol Pretty fun and I can see how it could be addictive. Taking a break to play some more “I am Setsuna”

      Diablo 3

Moved up to “Hard” and it’s definitely more challenging. I even had the screen get the red edges as I was low on health. I’m picking up some cool skills too. I’m only level 8 right now though. I’d assume the little number and progress bar below my health meter is my level number and progress toward the next one. This game is a ton of fun though. Seems to feel more like an RPG than most games I’ve been playing that aren’t JRPGs.

Bought a weapon that does 12.9 damage was talking to this lady in Tristram and found transmogrification. Turned that ball and chain type weapon into a sword with the same stats. That’s cool!

The difference between what I was playing before and what I’m playing now (Diablo, Persona 5, I am Setsuna, Disgaea 5 demo, Nier) is that they keep calling me when I’m not playing and I don’t feel like I’m just playing because I spent money on em!

Enjoy the game. It can be very fun solo, but you just have to accept that there is a bigger grind than those in a group.

Make sure you're playing the seasonal character. Since you're just starting out there is no reason not to as that character will eventually become a standard non-season one anyway. Plus you get the benefit down the road of picking up a full set of equipment for your class by completing certain season quests.

Finding good weapons is going to be key for you early on. The higher the damage the faster you can row through zones for loot/levels. Your primary goal should be finishing out the story and unlocking adventure mode. This is when you'll really be able to start making some advancements with bounties and those seasonal quests I mentioned earlier.

This season I am playing a monk. I felt like the class was weak compared to others during leveling, but now that I have my set its doing great. Very frenetic, fun play style as the set gives you huge bonus to spirit generator and dashing strike damage. You basically dashing strike, then use your spirit generators, then dashing strike again.
Yeah I have the same build. You using the set from this season? I love dashing strike. Im a few pieces away from the full recommended set (belt, weapons, bracers)

Darn you guys and your Diablo 3. Started playing after I put my son to bed at 8:00pm and didn’t finish until around 5 mins til 1:00. Up to lvl 21 now. I’ve only died once since I started playing and that was last night crawling through the dungeon with all the spiders. Great fun game grinding and leveling up.

Started on Normal then upped it to Hard. As of right now, I don’t have the option to up it to Expert in-game. Is there a certain point where that is “unlocked” or should I just do it on the main menu? Currently a lvl 24 Crusader.

Yeah, you probably have to change it before you actually enter a game.

I know the level above Expert, Master, is locked until you beat the game and Torment is unavailable until you reach character level 60. But expert should be playable for anyone, I think.

The Stranger, Leah, Templar and I just got to Caldeum to begin Act II. It’s as good a time as any to switch to Expert!

The game is as hard or as easy as you want to make it, but the rewards (loot drops) are much better playing on higher levels. To be able to play those higher levels efficiently though, you'll need to get at least decent equipment from the lower ones and work your way up.

TBH I feel like the difficulties and scaling kind of took the teeth out of hardcore mode (where you get one life and if you die, that character is permanently dead). JMO though.
This whole scaling thing I wasn't aware of. It the enemies scale up based on the level of your character, what's the point of all these difficulties other than the increased experience percentage and gold percentage they give you? Or am I missing something else regarding difficulty levels?

Makes it a bit easier to level since you can play at higher difficulty faster, and those difficulties offer better xp and drop rates. It's still harder to play those difficulties of course.

The games progression is more about the gear you have equipped than the level next to your name.

Hmmm. In the time I’ve been playing I have died about 4 times and it’s mostly because i got caught between enemies and couldn’t roll away I time. That’s on Expert and I just started playing Diablo (first one ever) on Friday.

Yeah difficulty below torment seems to be a joke. My friend and I who hadn't played in a couple years hit lvl 70 on our season 11 characters within an hour or 2 just by playing on high difficulty. It's a little easier in a duo than solo, but still the way the game scales all of the difficulty is at the top end.

It used to not be like that. When D3 first came out the ramp up in difficulty was much faster

Part of that was the fact that loot drops were abysmal too, and it more or less forced people to use the auction house (which is something I would prefer to never return to)
