Watching the ghosts help, and if you want to kinda cheat you can YouTube the master ghosts and see how they go through each course and try to emulate it.

I can usually beat the ghosts, I might have to check out the master ghost videos just for grins. I'm wondering if it's more of my not taking the right lines or picking the wrong character/cart.

Do you get anything extra for getting an A rating when you win the different cups?

you unlock characters by getting at least 1 star, which is better than an A rating.

              What effects the rating?

Just driving pretty perfect, like don't fall off the boards. On 50cc and 100cc you pretty much have to finish #1 in all 4 races of a circuit. In 150cc and mirror mode, you are allowed a second place finish in one or two of the races as long as you drive well in those races and still win the entire circuit. I have won all four races in a circuit a few times and didn't get a star, but those times even though I won, I didn't race too well.

On 50cc, I've won all the races for each cup and I think I only got an A on the one, the others I got a B. I still unlocked the karts and Diddy Kong. Anybody have a list of how to unlock the other characters?

So what's the deal with the Mario Kart tournaments on the mario kart channel? Is this just going to be a one time deal or are they going to have multiple ones? Or is it ever going to happen?

Re: Lets Talk About: MARIO KART WII

Over the last few days I've noticed more and more people online getting a turbo start after they've been hit by a shell, Bullet Bill, etc. I don't mean when someone goes off a cliff and you hit the gas just before the cloud drops you back on the course.

At first I thought it was a coincidence and that these people had mushrooms in the hole but it's happened way too frequently and always with people on bikes. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I got my score over 8,500 for the first time yesterday, that was exciting. I just need to get my GF to stop playing multi-player online with me, it's so much easier to see online playing 1-player.

I decided to play online last night after having about eight drinks, that resulted in my score going from 8600 to 7800.

I have had terrible luck finding this game both in-store and online. Has anyone else had any luck lately (or seen them if you already have it)?

Man I tell ya nothing is more frustrating in this game than when you get a disconnect online and it scores you as finishing in last place in that race. I was within 70 points of getting to the 9000 plateau for the first time and I had three damn disconnects tonight. I just turned off my Wii with my VR at 7900 and change.

Does anyone know how to do a mini turbo from a stand still after you've been hit or wiped out?

I'd imagine you have to do something like: hold the break and the gas at the same time while trying to drift.

For an example of what I'm talking about you can check out the 9:00 minute mark in this vid....
