Anybody else think the comeback logic is worse than ever in this version?

Today, I was in a 50 cc race, had about a 10 second lead on the 3rd lap, was cruising to a victory, or so I thought. I got hit with a blue shell, immediately a POW went off, then immediately hit by a red shell, then somehow hit by another red shell, and then Bowser plows into me and knocks me off the course. I ended up finishing 4th, and I was pissed.

I don't really think it is any worse that previous Mario Kart games, this game just have 4 more racers in it though doesn't it? So you'd expect more items to be flying around.

yeah it can piss you off but that's mario kart...the tracks and the driving are way too easy otherwise.

Friggin' Gamestop.

They messed my address up on my order so my Mario Kart + another wheel has been sitting up at the front office of the complex I live in since Monday. Lucky thing I went up there and asked them about it.

Ah well, time to crank it up and get going.

Exactly, that is the essence of Mario Kart and what makes it so entertaining to me. If you want a game you can win strictly on your racing abilities then buy some Nascar game.

QFT! It's funny that on some other sites, people complain about how easy the game is.. or how when they're easily beating the computer by a good lap or two, they say its cheap cause all of a sudden you're getting hit with the 1st place shell. (Not directed to the guy who posted about it being cheap (espndeportes), this is a totally different person on another board)

Theres a reason for all this to happen. This is a family game, where everybody has a chance to win. The point is not to win first, but to have as much fun as you can. It's sad when people can't understand this type of concept.

right now this and GTA IV are taking up all my time. this is a great game and a nice change of pace from GTA.

Well after two days of playing, I'm firmly hooked lol. I love this game.

The wheel was a bit tricky and hard to get used to at first but I wouldn't play it any other way now, I use it all the time.

Love the new tracks, they're great...the new Rainbow Road is awesome. I also dig the retro courses...good mixture of both.

Not really a big fan of some of the new items, esp. the POW and Bullet but it's just something you gotta deal with.

Gotta get a router now so I can start playing online.

All in all, I think it's awesome.

I got the last of the unlockables this morning, that was a satifying feeling because I think it was a little harder to do that this time.

I picked this up today (letting my Dad borrow my Wii later in the month to see if this version of Mario Kart makes him buy one)...I was going to hold off a bit (going on vacation next weekend), but I've played about an hour and it's a blast with the wheel. Just a fun gaming experience.

Well, to be clear, I don't think the game is cheap- I understand its Mario kart and all. I guess I just think that items go crazy at specific points, and it seems worse than previous versions (I've played them all!). It probably is the fact there are 12 riders, but I guess I was frustrated, as I had a string of races where similar things happened (blue shell on the final turn, getting two lightning bolts on the final lap etc.)

And once I got used to the wii wheel, the game is a bit too easy, for sure. I haven't tried 150 cc yet, but 50 and 100 cc haven't been much of a challenge.

Online is seriously addictive though. There are some people who are crazy good at the game. So far, I'm just under 6000 for both vs and battle mode.

As usual with Kart 150cc is the only option. Also, you can go into rules and put it to "hard", the default is "normal".

So 155cc Hard is the toughest level, playing on that it's a pretty good challenge.

How have people been doing against the ghosts? I started doing this yesterday, I've got 5 beaten so still a long ways to go.

I got all the ghosts done. I don't think many of the ghosts were that difficult. Now once that unlocked the Expert Staff Ghosts, those guys are crazy good. All you have to do to get the unlockables is beat the default staff ghosts though

So have you unlocked all the characters at this point?

I've only gotten Dry Bones, Rosalina and the Mii outfit A. Do you unlock a decent amount of guys by beating the ghosts?
