So have you unlocked all the characters at this point?

I've only gotten Dry Bones, Rosalina and the Mii outfit A. Do you unlock a decent amount of guys by beating the ghosts?

yeah I've got everything unlocked. You get Funky Kong, Birdo, Baby Luigi, and Toadette through time trials. You also get a couple bikes and Mii Outfit B. It's like every 4 ghosts you unlock you get something.

Those times are usually 5-10 seconds below the normal ghost which I usually beat by 3-5 seconds.

I finally decided to take the plunge into online gaming after I found out my boy in Boston and in NJ bought Kart as well. Hopefully I'll see you guys online in the near future!

Do you guys think a Linksys WRT54G would be enough to handle the online game?

How in the world do you unlock the Expert Ghosts to get Funky Kong, etc?

Those times are usually 5-10 seconds below the normal ghost which I usually beat by 3-5 seconds.

All I had to do was beat the Staff Ghosts for each race by 3-5 seconds on average. When you complete the time trial it will say a ghosts has been saved for you, then it will also say a fast ghosts has been unlocked, that'll be the Expert Staff Ghosts. You don't have to beat that ghosts, just unlock them all. If you're beating the default staff ghosts, you must need to beat him by just another second or two to unlock the expert one. I know the Moo Moo Meadows ghosts was the hardest one for me to do, which was strange since it is the second race of the game.

To be honest I'm not really that close to any of those times, I'm usually a few seconds behind after running a flawless race (as far as I could tell at least) but obviously there is something I'm missing. I am doing tricks of jumps for the extra speed burst and have manual drifting on for the mini turbo's as well. I assume using the same character and vehicle as the ghost will help. Besides that I'm puzzled.

So you're not beating the normal staff ghosts? I thought your post earlier said you were beating them by a few seconds but you weren't getting the faster ghosts unlocked. Watch the youtube vids for the time trials (they are all linked at gamefaqs in a sticky) so you can see the fastest route. I always get 1:34 on Moo Moo Meadows. I don't know why I have such a hard time getting that one. I've only raced it at 1:33 once out of probably 20 times!

I can beat the normal ghosts fine but not enough to unlock the staff expert ghosts - not even close really according to those times.

I'll check the youtube vids and see what I can do.

Hey guys, I've been able to unlock a lot of the ghosts, and I would use your current character (you'll know them more than anyone else) and a nice bike. Bike because you can pull a wheelie any time you are on a straightaway, and it does give you a little boost.

For example, all of my time trial runs have been Luigi on the standard bike.

I might go by CC tomorrow and see if they have any in stock even though the site says they don't.

Picked up Mario Kart. We are loving it. My daughter is having a bit of a tough time, but she only did two races.
