          Re: Socom: Confrontation (PS3)

I finally received my e-mail last night. I just played a bit a few hours ago and it was damn fun although I had no idea what I was doing.

That said, has anyone heard about any network disconnect problems with wireless networks? My internet hasn't gone out in quite sometime and all of a sudden after finishing my first match, I mean EXACTLY after the match, I got a message saying I was disconnected form the PSN. Sure enough my laptop wasn't connected and my wife's PS3 was disconnected (she was downloading the beta). I went and checked my PC and still no internet. I power cycled the modem and router and now everything is fine.

That just seemed like too much of a coincidence.

something similar happened to me a couple months ago. Every time I signed on PSN my computer wouldnt go online. I reset my router and its been fine ever since. So it could just be a coincidence, I dont know.

How do you roll on the ground? is there any other special moves?
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
              Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
              Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

              Captain Tenneal: Get it on!

What's up with the customizable controls?

I hate the default and I wanted to change them but it doesn't look like you can change the X button. No matter how I tried to scroll over to it on the controller map it would not select it. Frustrating does not even begin to describe it.

                  Re: Socom: Confrontation (PS3)

ther are no customizable controls in the beta. you can only select the presets that Slant six has provided. I think you will be able too customize the controls in the final version though.

also, here is the complete list of the controls:

                  Left Analog Stick - Strafe

                  Right Analog Stick - Aim

                  L1 - Weapon Quickswap

L2 - Taunts Hold: Team Mic Talk (I believe pressing this button will also include the vote and mute menu when the public beta releases)

                  R1 - Fire/Throw

                  R2 - Sprint

                  L3 - Melee

                  R3 - Reload

                  D-Pad Up - Zoom In

                  D-Pad Left - Camera Switch

                  D-Pad Down - Zoom Out

D-Pad Right - Toggle Night Vision

                  Square - Jump

Circle - Change Fire Mode Hold: Change Weapon

Triangle - Crouch Hold: Go Prone

                  X - Action

                  Select - Scoreboard

                  Start - Pause Menu

Roll - (While Prone) Hold Left Analog Stick Left or Right and double-tap X

Zoom Stages - All the way out is Classic cam, one up is OTS, another up is zoomed in OTS, and one more zoom is scope (i think)

Well...after a couple of days of being able to play. The past 2 days I cant even get into a room. My luck has run out. I know it's a beta BUT....I dont see the socom team being able to fix this for next month. It's gonna be a tleast until the new year until they can get this game up and running smooth.

I love the gameplay, it feels lots like socom 2.......BUT ther is WAY too many problems here for anyone to think that this game will run anywhere near smooth or even respectable for it's release in october. I may just wait on this game until January or somewhere around that time until/if they can iron out the problems.

Minsta you have to remember this build is at least a month old. I believe Slant six has already made some changes that they have not put in the beta as of yet. I will say it is pot luck at times as to weather you can get into a good room. try to get in a room without a lot of people in it.

                          Re: Socom: Confrontation (PS3)

In my past experiences in being in beta's (most recently Halo 3, warhawk & metal GEar online). The final game was basically exactly like the demo.

Halo 3 and warhawk were top notch online with the beta and as they were in the retail version. MGO well.............it wasnt that good at all. So Im just going off lessons learned in the past.

I hope the can do a complete 180 with this game come october.....I just dont think it can happen.

damn.. this game will be addicting when released if a lot of the online issues get worked out.

it's been awhile since I played socom.. but what is best reccomended control setup.. Seal.. etc?

I been just putting mine all the way up and for acceleration and look speed and keep dead zone at seal default. seems good but just wondering what most use here?

                              Well.......

The lobby wait time is great now. I can get into a game in under 2 mins. BUT there is so much lag the game is unplayble and I have no more audio when playing ????

                              Very strange.

I'm with you Mintsa. I'm hoping this game is very good but I really don't think there is anyway that they will get this thing cleaned up in a month.

I don't get it either. It's an online ONLY effort. All of their resources went into online. It's not like the primary focus or even the secondary focus was a single player campaign.
