Re: Rock Band 2
I have found Medium to be getting boring myself in Harmonix games. For the GH games, I think Medium is a little better because the speed is much faster that the notes are coming down so it appears a little bit more challenging. I can play some "easy" songs on Hard, but that is about it. I think that both developers really need to have a level between Medium and Hard that starts to get you ready for that Orange fret. The jump from Medium to Hard can be brutal and a lot of times for me its that Orange fret that messes me up.My Teams

Re: Rock Band 2
EG, I would say hang on (at least) to the DLC. I've gone through moods where I want to play anything but music games and then I'll get right back into them again.

Re: Rock Band 2
Yeah, I can deal with medium pretty well, but I don't play enough to want to figure out hard...that orange fret where you have to reach or shift always throws me off.
I usually just play now when I'm in the mood for a few songs, or if I have a party but that's not that often. Nice to have around but not a game I play often solo.
Thanks. I never thought of doing that.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
For all you guys attempting to make that move up to hard I would say breakneck speed is the way to go. For me at least it made reading the charts a lot easier especially for those tougher songs that throw a lot of notes at you. Not only that but my fingers were moving a lot faster then the actual track so breakneck helped remedy that.
Lastly playing on bass for a while will make the transition a bit easier b/c of the lack of chords. Those things will just frustrate you to no end especially when there's a shift from red/blue to orange/yellow.
If you have the time/patience I say give it a try and keeping practicing b/c it will make the game so much more fun once you get comfortable with it. It feels really good to nail solos on hard and expert. And the satisfaction you get from nailing songs like Painkiller on hard/expert guitar is just amazing Lol.Comment

Hey gang,
Here's the DLC coming your way next week. There's another 5 tracks coming from modern punk luminaries AFI and quite possibly the greatest pop song ever written about Egyptians. Check it out!

AFI - Beautiful Thieves
AFI - End Transmission
AFI - Love Like Winter

Re: Rock Band 2
Wow great discussion here.
Moving from medium to hard on guitar is the biggest jump there is in any of the music games. It's really just a matter of practice. You need to play for at least 30 minutes on most days (every day might be too much, but you need to play more than once a week) and you have to be willing to go into practice mode to get the hang of it at slower speeds. I did this all the time back when I got GHIII.
Now I can gold star anything that is relatively difficult (even got GG&HT gold!) and 4 star basically anything (Snow, most of the Megadeth pack).
It really is more fun to play on the harder difficulties, but even now I'm finally starting to get a little burned out on the music genre. I've put off picking up MW2, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Rock Band 2
New tracks for next week, from RockBand.com forums:
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “A Thing About You (live)” +
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “American Girl (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Even the Losers (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Here Comes My Girl (live)” +
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Mary Jane’s Last Dance (live)”
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Refugee (live)” +
Kelly Clarkson – “Miss Independent” +
P!nk – “Who Knew” +
The Go-Go’s – “Our Lips Are Sealed” +
Anything with a + next to it works in Lego Rock Band.
I would get the Kelly Clarkson song if it was "Since U Been Gone". However, it's not, so I can save myself that embarrassment for the moment. I'll explore the other songs; they're all sorta 'eh' to me.Comment

I'll be picking up all of the Tom Petty tracks. I hope the live versions sound good—I would have MUCH preferred studio versions.Ryan Spencer
