I think they are just making the game a little more picky, which is what everybody wanted.

Someone over on the rockband.com forums was asking if the timing window had increased, and one of the HMX guys said that they kept it the same. I tried the "strum when you hear the drum noise" calibration and I couldn't get it to work. I just left it at "0" and I think it's fine.

I'm playing on a 32 inch LCD with HDMI, with the separate audio running to my surround sound. Using the X-plorer. Need to buy a drumset so I can give them a try.

Finally an official picture of the cymbal add on coming for the new drums next week. I ordered these of EB.com, expecting them to be hard to find, especially since the drums are already.

Sucks that you can't map the cymbals to the red pad though. Some of the songs like Everlong or Orange Crush use the red as the hi-hat for the song.

What's with the challenges? How do they work and stuff?

The Challenges group songs together as a setlist, so for the very first challenge, there is something along the lines of a "bass beginner", "guitar beginner" and "drums beginner" sub challenge. You beat each one to unlock new challenges and songs. I think I'm on like the 4th tier, so I just opened the "guitar solo challenge". Make sense?

Exactly, until you can map the hi-hat across your body, not much of a point. I'd feel like I was using a crash for a hi hat with that setup.

Glad to see im not the only one getting frustrated with my guitar not registering...

They are times I just get pissed because there is NO way I should miss a stupid chord or something. Ive calibrated several times... I dunno, maybe its just HMX being sneaky and making us buy the "new" instruments

So it is just playing the song as normal? I didn't know if they had certain challenges built in that you had to pass to complete the challenge like "hit all energy phrases," "get a 100 note streak," "4-star the setlist," etc. So do you think this is the best way to unlock the on-disc songs the fastest?

I haven't done any of the challenges... maybe I should. What I hate is that all I have are the 4-song sets and a lot of them are repeats of songs I already played...

Have you calibrated?

I know on guitar, I'm still missing **** I shouldn't. For instance, I failed out on Rock N' Me by SMB because it wasn't registering anything. Still trying to find the right settings, especially on this new TV.

its calibrated fine for guitar, just not drums. i dont have much space in my dorm though so its a hastle to set them up anyways

Just got the achievement for FCing vocals on Blinded By Fear. My throat is absolutely killing me since I always try to sing the metal songs for real.

No calibration issues here, having played with both the Xplorer and Les Paul controllers, both on a PC LCD monitor (VGA connection).

Testify will actually play itself on vox if you hold the mic to the speaker (not too close of course and turn the mic volume all the way down)

Anyone else get the free "song" (160 points actually) from the gum thing today?

I don't know if this was in RB 1 tour but I do like the difficulty switching. I just did Float On on hard vox and got 4 stars,then I tried Tangled Up in Blue on expert in quickplay...it was unlocked through drums...just for the hell of it and got 4 stars on that too but I still can't beat In Bloom on expert or Spoonman on hard.

Again because I didn't get to play tour in RB 1 this might be a stupid question but if playing a song on expert and getting 5 stars should I be losing fans?
