I can do expert on almost all instruments. One or two songs on each instrumnet (on expert) that give me trouble.

I guess I'm the same across all instruments. Expert everything except there's a few songs on each that I have to play on hard. I just don't have the time I'd like to play the game to become Rock Band God.

I can do Expert on Guitar/Bass but still toil on Hard for the majority of songs on Drums (three dots and above).

This ^ , though I can play most drum stuff well on medium now too. I've never actually done bass, so not sure if it's different than lead.

I kind of stopped playing this game for awhile, but during my birthday party last week we had a ton of people over after the bar and we rocked out pretty fierce til about 5 am (my neighbors hate me )....Man I love this game.

Guitar - Hard to Expert (depending on the song)
Vocals - Hard to Expert " "
Bass - Expert
Drums - Mostly hard but Medium for the tougher songs

There has been a lot of discussion over a recent article that stated "MTV said it plans to increase the number of available songs this year to as many as 5,000."

In an effort to clarify and put some context around that number, please see the original quote on ArsTechnica.com from an interview with Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, during this year’s CES.

In that article, Alex stated:

"That said, one of the great promises of the (Rock Band) catalog moving forward, as the catalog expands from 500 songs to 5,000 songs or whatever in the coming years, is that we're going to be less constrained from a genre standpoint, and I think you will see us starting to branch out into... whether it's country or R&B and jazz or funk, or things of that sort. With the critical mass of the "rock" core covered, of course we'll keep expanding it, but the critical mass is covered, so now we can start to branch off in ways that haven't made sense in the past but will make sense moving forward."

I read this as a positive. It means that HMX is comfortable enough to not try something new. I would love to have some jazz and funk in this game.

Doesn't mean they would abandon rock but just expanding.

Game is tough to me. I just need to practice. bass seems easier then lead (at least the songs I have played both on)

I've been downloading less and less lately. If they want to expand and and not just be Rock Band anymore, that's cool. Their whole "critical mass" statement is a little scary. I just hope they don't forget what got them here.

If they do, I'm sure there will be other games that come out down the road that will fill the void.

This game is called Rock Band. To me, that means Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Grunge Rock, Alternative Rock, Contemporary Rock, Soft Rock, hell... even Country Rock. But this isn't Jazz Band or Blues Band.

I don't know how much I'll mind this. I love that other kind of music, but unless it's an expansion of what we're already getting offered by the rock genre each week, I don't know how much I'll like to play the guitar of a jazz song as opposed to, say, the saxophone. Bass wouldn't be too bad, though.

I think once I get my favorite bands out of the way (assuming they ever get to them), I wouldn't mind this as much. But every week of new song announcements that are disappointments (though last week's bunch was great) makes me itch for yet another week.

I would love some Blues and more SRV!!!!...Texas Flood was my favorite guitar hero song.

Yes this is terrible,BB King,Chuck Berry,John Lee Hooker,Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson couldn't play the guitar for crap! AND certianly none of them had any influence on classic rock artists like Led Zeppelin,Jimi Hendrix,The Doors,CREAM and Rolling Stones. I mean Whole Lotta Love sounds nothing at all like a faster Bad Like Jesse James and CREAM thought up Crossroads all by themselves. Let's also ignore that there's already 2 rap songs.

I agree. There are a whole lot of people that would come over if there was more Funk, R&B, band-based hip hop and Blues in the game.

I'm not sure how big video games are with jazz heads.

Exactly...Rock and Roll originated from artists like these that dont fit the stereotypical "Rock Band" mold.

I mean, do we really need more Sum 41 and TRL generation hacks in this game over artists that goh mentioned.
