Re: Rock Band 2
Hey gang!
Here's the DLC announcement arriving on the week of 2/3. We're busting out a 3 pack of Thin Lizzy anthems from their new live cd, and backing that up with classic singles from The Pretenders and Pat Benatar, as well as two tracks from Nikko!
Here's the full scoop:
Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak (Live)
Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot
.
I wish they were giving us Pat Benatar it would have been " Love is a Battlefield" =)Last edited by Brandwin; 01-30-2009, 03:13 PM.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
Thin Lizzy, if it wasn't live I probably would get it. Actually used to play Boys are Back in Town in the clubs with my old band 20 years ago.
Pat Benetar....why that song? We already had that on GHIII. Pick a new song already. I like Pat Benetar, but how about Promises in the Dark or Hearbreaker or something?PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Rock Band 2
I feel you on that. I didn't pick up GHIII or World Tour. Neversoft's game design just irks me, and the limitations on the music creator don't make it worthwhile. Not to mention the way they do vocals, ugh.
Just saying that Heartbreaker doesn't fit the "new" criteria either. More than anything, I know female friends and family will enjoy singing it, and that makes it an automatic pick up. I really enjoyed the Live performance of the Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy. The Boys are Back is automatic, lol. That's a drunk singing song if I've ever heard one.Comment

"You see,the kids they listen to the rap music which gives them the brain damage. With their hippin and the hoppin and the bippin and the boppin so they don't know what the jazz is all about!"
To try and clear it up for the un/misinformed jazz and blues for RB wouldn't be this (not that this is bad)...

but more like this...
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2EHWujXubNM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2EHWujXubNM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
And yes I was refering to the Beastie Boys as the 2 rap songs. Don't want to count that then GH 1 has a cover of a cover of Higher Ground, originally by Stevie Wonder wich I guess would go under funk and GH:A has Run DMC.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
Good post, goh.
The Beastie Boys is primarily a rap group, but they have a lot of songs that stretch the definition of "rap", and get closer to the Rage Against the Machine style of song. Just angry, loud vocals over repetitive, but not repeating, live music.
Now if they put up a Jay-Z/Linkin Park song, we'd have a pure rap song.
Kind of how Eminence Front by the Who is not really a rock song, even though they are a rock band.Comment

I'm all for the branching out. I say shine the light on the blues and those legends some - they definitely deserve it. I would also dig more reggae and give us the funk too! I want something challenging on bass.

Re: Rock Band 2
OK. I have gotten to the point where I can play "Everlong" and "Mr. Brightside" on the drums on Hard and get 4* and 5* respectively (easily on Mr. Brightside). However, when I step it up to Expert, I cannot get the quick tapping down on the red pad for Everlong and yellow? for Mr. Brightside.
I know I probably need to go into practice mode, but do any of you drummers out there have an tips or tricks.

Re: Rock Band 2
I dunno...
not necessarily practice mode.
But just play the song 1 to 2 times a day, and just see if you get farther and farther.
OR!
Play songs with similar rolls, but where they dont last as long.
I cant think of any off the top of my head, but usually that helpsCharger Fan Born and Raised!
