This game does feel much more MMO Adventure than MMO RPG. Sure there is a skill tree and such, but the gameplay is more action. The camera is decent and the game play, from what I've played is good.

If we could get a few OSers together, it might be a really good game. It's not groundbreaking or anything like that, except for the fact that there is a TON of DC characters in the game, but it is fun. Is it 14.99 per month fun...ehhh, I don't know.

BTW, the opening to this game is just incredible. Especially the fact that they make every big name superhero or villian look like a total bad ***. In fact, the whole game stays VERY true to the DC universe. It is, for all intents and purposes, like playing a comic book.
    Thanks for that bro.

You see, it's reading things like that, that are probably going to eventually sway me into purchasing this game. Do you use your mic while playing? How does it work so that you don't here dozens upon dozens of people talking all at once? Also, is there any lag what so ever?

I will still wait to hear a few more things about it over the next week or so. But like I said, if they all sound like your impressions, then I am most likely in.

There are a few times when I've had a "WTF?" moment where the screen kinda glitches out, but I've never had a massive problem with it.

As for the mic...I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure the only time you'd hear people is if they were in your group. Otherwise, it'd be chaos.

I've only gotten in about 2 hours in this game so far, but what I got was pretty good.

Are most OS'ers going PC or PS3? I'm a big comic guy, so I think I'll be picking this game up

I wouldnt know how to play an mmo on console, so if I get it , it will be on PC.

Having said that...are the servers the same for ps3 and pc, or do they have them seperated?

            Re: DC Universe Online (PS3)

I'm playing the PC version and I bought the lifetime sub. If you've played Marvel Ultimate Alliance, then you kind of have an idea of how this game is played combat wise. Combat is different from any MMO that I have played. (You can actually dodge incoming projectiles. No dice rolls.) If any of you have played Champions Online and thought that combat in that MMO was fast, this is faster. I highly recommend any PC player to play with a gamepad. The world that it is set in is huge. I've only played one guy today and he is set in Metropolis. I haven't left the city and I haven't seen half of it either. I like the game. After one day, I love playing along side the likes of Superman, The Flash, The Teen Titans ect. I love exploring (and getting XP to do so) the different places in the DC Universe. (The JL Watchtower is amazing)

Is the game deep? No, not compared to other MMOs. There are a lot of missions and side missions and exploring/collecting to do. There is no crafting in this game. At this point I'm not sure if there is a marketplace. I saw something in the Watchtower that looked like a marketplace, but I wasn't sure. But, if you've played MMOs before, you know that the game will be constantly changing. Things will be added.

After one day of play, one thing I did notice that was missing from the game was the feeling of grinding. Currently I'm lvl 11, but it sure didn't feel like I was laboring at all today. I was having fun doing things for Superman and Wonder Woman, and working with The Flash and Zantana.

Will I get my money's worth from a lifetime sub? Yes, but I'm a sucker for superhero MMOs. In May I will have been a subscriber to CoH for seven years. For those of you on the fence that like superheroes and MMOs, I'd say buy it and give it a month or two. I look at the monthly fee this way... $15 a month is a lot less than taking my family to the movies on a Friday night.

PC and PS3 Servers are separate.

Just bought it myself for the PC. Dont know the first thing about this game and havent kept up with it at all. Dont expect it to replicate WoW, but hoping that it provides a new experience that is at least entertaining up to the level cap.

Great review, I have some questions if that's ok.

You said you purchased the lifetime subscription, may I ask how much that exactly is?

You said it doesn't feel like a grind at all, so leveling is quite quick & easy? BTW What is the current level cap?

Now my last question is kinda weird but since it is an MMO I want to know. Is this game even in the slightest anything like Evercrack or WOW? Not in the gameplay sense, but more in the sense of does it feel as consuming of your time to get into coordinating a raid (or whatever it would be called in this world) or taking down a huge mob?

                  Thanks in advance bro.

                    Let me answer that:

It's definitely not a grind. It's fun, quick, and relativity easy. Which is fine. You also have to remember that with hundreds of super heros around, it's kinda hard to be killed by a single henchman.

It's fun. I haven't tried a raid yet, I'd love to do one.

Best way I can describe this game...

                      Infamous + World of Warcraft

The graphics won't blow you away you at all, but like OSU said the opening cinematics are pretty damn awesome. Plus there are comic-like cutscenes from time to time.

I really like the character creation as well.

I am a Villain, with The Joker as my mentor, my main skills are brawling/sorcery.

I was on the fence, but I think it is a worthwhile purchase. Especially if you like MMO's (and/or) Super Heroes. I can see myself playing this for a while. A solid 8/10.

                          Um...well...

I'm not going to lie, with all the craziness that goes on at the same time, it really can get a little glitchy with the graphics.

OTOH, It's not anything that will ruin the game. To put it another way, it's not extremely smooth, but it's not going to slow the game down. It's just sometimes there is a lot going on, on the screen and ultimately, flaws will sometimes happen.

I mean, it's not uncommon for there to be about 20 different things happening on the same screen. And with powers and everything going off, it's kinda chaotic. The great thing that I have noticed is that there is no lag in the moves, therefore, if you want to execute a move, despite the graphics sometimes going crazy, it's still going to do what it should do.

The best way I can describe it is you just say "Wow, that's really weird" or "WTF?" and move on. Definitely not a game breaker.

                                Re: DC Universe Online (PS3)

Well I got the game last night and am now up to level 6. I am not a superhero fan, nor did I really like CoH when I got it at launch many years ago.

Being an avid mmo player, I try to play all the major releases just to see what they are like and I must admit, I am greatly impressed so far. This is coming into the game with zero expectations of course.

PC play is smooth as butter. Best way I can describe this is like a double dragon / streets of rage set in a comic book world. I have yet to see another hero like myself and the skills are pretty amazing. Follows the typical Go here, kill X, save Y like every other mmo does to date, but in a unique way.

There are flying tests or tests found around the map that you need to complete to earn skills which is pretty cool. So far I am having a great time and thats without knowing what to expect.

This is nothing like any MMO I have played and I dont suspect it will ever take the time that the WoW / Everquests / LoTRO etc type games take, but there is no doubt that I will get more playtime out of this than pretty much any single player experience game I can buy on consoles.

Will this be a game I subscribe to on a monthly basis...most likely not. Will this be a game that I get to the end of what I want to do and quit until the next content update is released, ...no doubt.

It has certainly exceeded my expectations.
