      Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)

Wow this thread is old. Just bought this game since I have been wanting to try one of the Soul's games and i decided to start with the first.

Just got through the first boss and I already love this game. You really have to play smart although I'm still not sure on all the game mechanics I've been able to handle my self really well. I only died a few times (once from falling off the top of the nexus and losing my just gained morality, died once on the staircase heading towards first boss, and twice trying to kill that red eyed knight in 1-1).

I can tell that I will be buying Dark Souls 1, and 2 in the future already and I'm kind of mad at myself for not playing this before.

        Re: Demon's Souls (PS3)

This thread has now been resurrected in Soul Form (and let me tell you, finding it was not easy with search disabled).

So...how many returning champs we got here for the PS5 launch? How about people who are new to this game or SoulsBorne in general?

I don't know if it's exactly the same mechanically, but it's at least very close. I do find backstabs and parries much easier to do than the PS3 release , and I think that's probably due to improved feel and timing that comes from it being 60 FPS. It could also be the fact that I've been playing these games for years now and I'm just more used to the timing.

Graphics-wise this is my first real look at the next-gen capabilities and it absolutely blows me away.

The red glow coming from my armor is from light reflecting from the bloodstain at my feet. Just crazy stuff.

I never played Demon's Souls but did play Darks Souls 2&3, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Just beat the first boss yesterday. I am really enjoying it so far.

First venture into Demon Souls. Been watching a few YouTube noob to the series vids to get an idea of what I need to do first.

I have never played any of these type of games. I've always been intrigued by it seeing others play & the talk of how challenging it is. May have to give it a go sometime. The game does look stunning from the vids & pics I've seen.

This remake is insane. Is it possible for remakes to get game of the year? I'm loving the pvp in this one, doesn't seem as bad as dark souls with the lag hits.

I’ve played Sekiro and Nioh and really fell in love with this RPG sub-genre.

I have not played any Dark Souls games or Bloodborne, but Demon Souls for PS5 is incredible.

I read that these guys made the old Playstation game King's Field?

That has me intrigued as this game looks really stellar and even though I don't typically play this genre, I loved King's Field as a kid.

That's correct, the original game was developed by FromSoftware and their first game was King's Field.

This PS5 version is a remake developed by Bluepoint Games and SIE Japan, but it is mechanically the same game that FromSoftware created (at least as far as I've gotten in it), running the same gameplay code as the PS3 version underneath all the eye candy. It's just gotten such a huge face lift (graphically and performance-wise) to the point that you can't call it a remaster.

Don’t do this. Play it blind. Seriously. It’s much better that way, trust me.

Took me 4 days to beat the first Boss. Oh the feeling of accomplishment!!

I’m terrible. I’m really not sure where to go. Is it just a trial and error type of thing?

Yeah it's pretty open about what order you can do the levels and takes a bit of trial and error. As you explore, you learn enemy placement, attack patterns and will get better and better each time around. I'm not sure which area you're in, but let's say the archstones in the nexus from left to right is 1 through 5. You should go through 1-1, 1-2 and 2-1 first. If you're feeling good, you can try to complete 4-1 a little earlier as that can get you some good gear and souls.

Are there ever check points? Gets old playing through the same stuff 4 times.

What do I do then with these souls I'm gathering? Game's done a nice job walking me through most things as a newbie, but that part is still unclear.
