It just doesn't feel the same going through the second one without your ME1 save, IMO. When I first picked up ME2, I thought I had my ME1 save on my hard drive, but I didn't. Just within the first few minutes there's already information from the first game carrying over. So I just sucked it up and played for about 18 hours straight to re-do my ME1 save. It was well worth it.

ARGH! It's going to take me months to complete ME1! I play only a handful of hours a week.
And with NHL11, it's going to be tough finding time in my Xbox. But I might have to do it.

Well I mean if it's not that huge a deal to you, you don't have to. It depends on how much you value 'the little things.' Tons of stuff carry over, but it's not as if every one of them have impact on the main story. A lot of it are small things. If you start just a new game without ME1, it's not going to be a terrible experience either. Just for me, I couldn't stand the thought of not having stuff carry over. Others may not feel as strongly as I do.

Sentinel is best for insanity but it's also best to start out at level 1 and not use an imported character. Go for an Infiltrator with warp ammo and take the widow when you get the chance if you want something different.

I had to replay ME 1 once over again as well. It's not as bad since you know where everything is. Just play on normal, skip the conversations by pressing X. It think it took me about 14 hours to replay while doing all missions and assignments. DLC included.

Does it really make it that much harder to use an imported character?

I don't think it'd be that bad with a ME 1 import because at most you'd be level 5 but with a ME 2 import yes.

Yup, that's what I did. It goes by really quickly since you're skipping the conversations and what not.

Yep. I beat it in 15 hours the other day and I did everything. I wanted to re-beat it so I could get the Conrad Verner stuff. I didn't have it before.

I'm still on my first playthrough...what is the Conrad Verner stuff which you speak of? Also, I'm at the point of where I have to acquire the IFF, how far is that from the ending?

                      Great game by the way!!!

Conrad is the fanatic from the first game in the upper wards on the Citadel. If you talk to him on three separate occasions and complete the quest, he will be in the second game.

Ok I remember him now. I already came across him earlier in the game. If he is in part 3 I don't think he'll be to eager to see me. Neither will his leg!!!

I just started my second playthrough and thought I had all the DLC. It appears I missed one. Do I have to restart if I download it now or will it import into my current game?

I'm hoping for a huge one DAO style.

Some DLC are locked until you progress to certain points in the game. I believe the only one though that is locked is the Shadow Broker DLC.
