I just started the game... and a HUGE noob question: How do I do the dead eye thing?

Click R stick to activate it. At the beginning it just slows time down. There are plot points that expand it's use later on.

The high stakes games are in the northern part of town, not on the saloon patio. Need the gentleman's suit (link your gamertag to Rockstar Social Club accessed through the pause menu). When you are wearing that suit in Blackwater, a 2nd poker game will show up on the map near the top half of the town. It's upstairs in one of the apartment buildings.

Talk about investing 30+ hours in a "movie" and then watching the main character/good guy get gunned down in the end. My fiance can't understand why I'm sad about a video game.

It should restart at some point. I failed Who Are You To Judge and then a couple of days later it came back.

I believe all those little "purple question mark" side quests restart over time. Because I failed two of them, only to find the people still there a few days later. I love the purple dots on the map telling you where to go next. Even though I "finished" the game...

I just did the side mission Poppycock in Mexico where you essentially are a drug runner for some British guy. When I got back to Chuparosa it gives you the option of keeping the money or giving it to him. Well I wanted the honor so I gave him the $1000. Sure enough I got a huge Honor bonus. I then whipped out my double barreled shotgun and blasted that ****er in the head! When I looted his body I got $1007 lol. Then I rode out of town real fast. Only a 50 point Honor hit for killing him so it was still a net gain. It was sweet

Should've had the bandana on when you did that. No honor hit then, just cash.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt sad when John died. I sat there pretty stoic, and then a rush of sadness came over me. It kind of sucked, I liked John a lot. I'll complete the game 100% with Jack, but it just won't be the same.

After John died I went through the 5 stages of grief

1. Denial - I sat there and said to myself "they really aren't going to kill off the main character are they?"
2. Anger - I went to the government building in Blackwater and started shooting any law enforcement I saw.
3. Bargaining - I wanted to start all over and do everything that would gain me honor in hopes that it wouldn't end the way it did
4. Depression - I at one point didn't feel like continuing the story as Jack so I was going to give up the game
5. Acceptance - I finally accepted the cards that were dealt and I finished up a few challenges as Jack and will eventually get the last 1.5% needed for 100% completion.

Some tips on dueling:

- Waiting to draw results in an accuracy bonus for you, as the camera continues to zoom in after you are prompted to draw.

- One show to the arm will completely fill your meter, and will disarm the opponent. This will not kill him, but will grant you extra fame and honor. A single headshot my work as wel.

-Your objective is to fill the blue meter. The duelist with the highest meter wins.

- To fill the meter with the most efficiency, you have to hit the fire button when the targeting reticule is white.

-Push the right stick down to move your hand closer to your gun.

EDIT:

I also just noticed something about cheating at poker. Gentle movements on the stick is key, do not make any movements that are too sudden or radical.

I guess i've been really lucky in winning duels then because i've won like 5 out of 6 and I didn't know any of that stuff. LOL. I just waited until it said draw, then moved the reticule up and fired like crazy.

No, that works too. Just throwing some tips out there because from what I understand, some people are having trouble with the system. (Which rockstar could have done a better job of explaining. Just like horses)

I won my first duel but have no idea what i did. Completely shot the dude up, now I feel like moving the x up to the opponent is like fighting the controller.. what am I doing wrong lol

I dont know what it is, but i have the hardest time figuring out the game of horse shoes.. i can not figure out the right arc, and power ever.. SUCKS!

So, I'm a really honorable guy in this playthrough. If I put on the bandana it keeps me from taking the honor hit for doing bad things? I'll still have to pay bounties, but just no hit with honor and whatnot?
