I'm trying to figure out the same thing man. Its like a mystery surrounding this **** right now if ya ask me.

I've observed many different dates for release, all of which indicate that the game is now out. Only catch is, no store has it, lol.

I went to amazon to order it. You know how it says "in stock" in green letters when they have the game. Well, it doesn't say its in stock, but it also doesnt have a release date anymore and it doesn't say preorder.

Which means its definitely out. I went ahead and ordered and it states that it will ship in 2 to 4 weeks.

So I guess they dont actually have it in stock but they'll get it for you when you order, thats why it takes so long to ship out. I think thats your best bet for now.

Gamestop is no longer getting the game. Best Buy is in the same situation. The reason that's going around is that the company that got the boxed copy publishing rights in here in North America wasn't able too meet the demand of copies (dvd and manuals) that were ordered. Some rumors state that it would take weeks if not a month and some to get the amount of copies out. Thus Gamestop dropped the title from being at their store.

it appears that only a few retailers will have boxed copies. Elsewise get your PCs directed to Steampowered.com and download it from Steam.

The demo was pretty nice. I liked what was there more so than what I had played of ArmA1. And the game is not bad looking by any means.

For those that have this game and still play it, I saw some reviews and they looked good besides the gameplay faults from bugs. Have these issues been addressed? Is this worth giving a shot to it? I have a rig to run this at good settings.

I saw the ARMA 1 thread that people are still playing that one, but Windows 7 seems to be a problem. If windows 7 isn't a problem is it better to go with the first one or the second one?

It is pretty much how you think it would be. Arma 1 has much more mods and user content. But Arma 2 has the better graphics and few new features.

Now I am not positive but I think Arma 1 only supports up to Vista. I would have to check to see if it supports 7. Arma 2 I am pretty positive would support 7.

I've been to a few ARMA sites and many people say it's playing fine on their W7 rigs. I'll know once I get my setup done.

Yep. It plays "Ok" on mine even with a sub par Video card. Have to set everything low but it plays. However it does play slightly better when I use Compatibility mode.
Hopefully I'll have new card this weekend and will see what's what.

Sounds good. Let me know when you get your card so we can run some operations.

Anyone still playing this on PC???

I picked up ARMA 2 and the expansion OPERATION ARROWHEAD off the steam deal for $39. Played it all weekend long and got my head tracking software back up and running. Works perfect. Amazing game, but I love combat simulators.

If anyone on PC has ARMA 2 and wants to run some coop missions let me know. I am down to play this online.

This is off topic, but have you tried Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising Phobia? Its a pretty good simulation and is a ton of fun. I played it all day yesterday with a friend and we still didn't get enough.

I loved Flash point back in the day. The new one I saw they kind of went away from the combat simulation aspects and mixed in a little "fun". Where ARMA has taken the steering wheel of the old Flash point and is the new age combat simulator.

I heard good things about it bro. But money wise going to stick with ARMA 2. Plus with the mission editor and all the mods out there. I am in heaven.

                                Re: ArmA 2 (PC, 360, PS3)

I put in over 7 Hours this weekend in ARMA 2. I got my headtracking device setup PERFECTLY. It is like playing real life on a video game. My dad just ended up getting the game this weekend, my cousin is getting it Wednesday, and Frowdawg is talking about getting it. I wish we had more PC gamers here because this is a FANTASTIC multiplayer coop game.

I had 14 confirmed kills last night in my last game. Let me talk about this badass mission me and my dad went through.

Overview: We were told to fly in 2 squads of men into a Afghan village. Assess the situation and see if there was any threats in hiding in this village.

Situation: So I take the role of the Helicopter Pilot tasked with bringing these men into danger. My dad took the role of a standard infantry solider and jumped in the back of the Copter with another 7 men.

We lifted off and headed southwest for our target LZ. After roughly a 5 min flight we were coming up to the LZ. I went into a low hover and started my decent to put the guys on the grass. Next thing I know I hear this snap, then another snap. By the time I seen the tracer fly upwards in front my windscreen I knew we were taking ground fire.

I quickly let off the accelerator and went to put the bird down as fast as possible with rifle fire popping off every now and then. I prepared my dad for a hot LZ when we hit and to hit the dirt.

I was not going to fly off and leave these boys here to die and I was not going to sit in this giant bullet magnet. So once we touched down I ordered everyone to disembark!!!

I jumped out the aircraft and immediately went to laying prone with grass all around me. I could not see a thing, no more than 25 feet in front me. Then those snaps grew much louder and were now distinct gun fire coming from the village.

Just then I see my dad running and diving prone to a tree about 30 yards in front me. As I stand up to make my way towards him, I see a low lying brick wall about 20 feet in front him. I make the decision to pass him up and setup shop behind this wall. I took the right flank and he took the left.

I rise up to a kneel position and scan for targets on the right flank looking down a street into the village. On my far left is a HUGE sloping mountain with a valley running away from the village. At this moment, when I swing my head back around to the street, I see 3 al-Qaeda men running across the street attempting to flank us on the right.

BOOM my M16 rings out as I hit the middle guy broad side right at shoulder height. That was a sure kill shot, as he stumbles face first into the middle of the street. BOOM as I ring out another shot, I clip the trailing guy but he does not go down and makes it behind cover.

This is where the **** hit the fan. Out of no where, rounds rip all around me. I quickly hit the dirt and try to assess where the rounds were coming from. As I use my head tracking device to quickly rip my head around to the left, I notice a squad of around 10 al-Qaeda coming down the mountain.

This must be a support group which was out on patrol or they saw the Copter coming in and came in for help.

Two al-Qaeda set up laying on the mountain slope with heavy machine guns and started raining hell down on our position. As their other 8 men start making their way down to our position. But these guys were FAR!! We are talking roughly a 1/2 mile away (800 yards).

I then inform my dad of their position and we both take a kneeling position at the low lying wall and start taking pop shots at the troops taking the slow decent down the mountain side. Needless to say it was a lost cause as our weapons just did not have the accuracy for this kind of range.

We then make the tough call of moving our men up the right side into the village where we can setup a defensive position. We were in a poor position and needed adequate cover if we were going to make it out this alive.

I jump up and we both start running up the hill for the village street. I swear not 20 yards into our run, a al-Qeada solider with a AK47 comes running to the left of us no more than 25 feet away. He was heading straight for our last known position and never seen us running on the right side. I quickly flick my weapon around from the hip and put 2 rounds square in the middle of his back dropping him as he rolled down the hill.

As we push up the street, shots ring out from down the street. We all quickly take cover along the walls of buildings. I spot 2 more al-Qeada down the street taking shots with their AK 47s towards our positions. But with that inaccurate weapon at the range they were firing it would be lucky if they landed a kill shot.

I raised my M16 and taking firing down the street dropping both targets after roughly 2 clips of ammo. They were in good cover and with the range the shots were not easy to make. I am now running low on ammo with 1 clip remaining.

I see a raised 3 story clay house with perfect firing position on the troops now near the base of the Mountain. As we all huddle in, I peer out one of the windows and see that they are now only several hundred yards from the Village and will be bearing down our throats. As my M16 starts ringing out with each fired round, I drop another 5 men before the machine gunners on the mountain side locate my position and start ripping this clay building to shreds with MG fire. Windows shattering, clay puffs busting out all around me. I hear the THAWT THAWT of two rounds slamming home into one of our fellow soldiers.

I spin around quickly trying to locate who was hit. Two of our men laid dead in the same room I am in. My dad took a round square in the chest and went down. Another one of our squad members in the house with us took a unlucky round square in the head.

I am now pinned in this clay building with half dozen men almost on top me now, machine gun fire is ripping my building I am in apart and has me pinned down. As I attempt to make my way out the back door, I swing my gun down to the left side when BOOOM a round rips through my left shoulder. But I don't go down, I start throwing rounds down the street attempting to suppress any enemy threat ahead of me. I end up dropping another 2 men attempting to flank me on the right side. I am now down to only a few rounds in my last mag.

As my dad respawns (take over a squad members body). I am asking "WHERE YOU AT, I CAN'T GO BACK IN AND I AM A SITTING DUCK OUT ON THE STREET!!!" As my radio crackles back....I make out "I am 500 yards away and I have a squad of 8 men with me....hold tight we are coming".

With only 7 or 8 rounds left I managed to hunker down back inside the build exposing as little of myself as possible and manage to drop another couple guys with my last remaining rounds.

By this point the incoming fire is completely gone and I peer out to see where my dad and the squad are. I then see them coming down the opposite mountain side as the enemy came down. They had a sniper squad member who quickly dispatched the machine gun guys and managed to pick off the last remaining soldiers in and around the village on their route towards my position.

We then meet up in the middle of the street, realized the village was occupied of nothing but al-Qeada, not a single citizen. As we radio back to HQ that the village was now free of enemy threats, we all board back on the Helicopter and I fly us back to HQ with a gun shot wound in my left shoulder, no ammo left, and a bird with multiple bullet holes. It was 30 to 45 mins of pure chaos!!!

What a heart pumping adrenaline rush of a ride it was. Because the mission before this one was a simple patrol mission and we spent almost 45 mins on patrol with no signs of contacts. Then we hit this little village and all hell broke loose. It was a surprise attack which felt sooooo real. It was AWESOME!!!!
