Other than having to download CBA_OA and adding that to the launch options that was exactly what I needed Phobia. Thanks a ton.

Are the ACE2 demos supposed to work that are where the scenarios are? I tried to load it up but they crashed the game.

It's not a big deal. The game works otherwise which is all that really matters. Thanks again.

By the way, I've searched all over but is there some sort of FAQ or Stratery guide for ARMA 1? I'm currently stuck on this mission where we are to take out the enemies AA stations and then secure a bridge. I get to the bridge where it tells me to wait for my next orders and I get shot over and over again. I had a nice 9 man group but has been withered away to just 4 of us. What makes it bad is right on my last save, my #2 gets shot and goes down every time. So it ends up with me commanding just 3 studs.

Despite the intense difficulty, I've never felt so much satisfaction than when completing a mission in this game.
There is nothing like going through hell in this game and coming out the other side completing your mission. Ohhhh the hyper-realism that is ARMA!!!

      Sent from me, duh.
They both run the same to me Candy, I get similar frame rates no matter which game I run. I run mods often so I end up starting in Combined Operations mode much more but I have run bench marks in both. I consistently run in the mid 60s to upper 60s frame rate on High settings.

On Steam, under your games list you should have two games listed. ARMA & ARMA Operation Arrowhead. If you click on just the regular ARMA game and start it then that is default ARMA 2. If you click on ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead and start that one then that is just the expansion. Now if you right click on either and click play ARMA 2 Combined Arms. That is ARMA 2 & Operation Arrowhead combined. Which means you have access to all missions under one game.

Hummm not real sure of the question Keith. The demos are generally showing you things that are new to ACE2, like Air refueling. Now I have not had a crash yet with ARMA 2 so I am unsure of what could be causing it.

Here is my latest Track IR setup I am building. It is not done yet as I have to apply the shrink tubing. But will give you a idea. This one looks rougher than my side clip but I wanted something I did not have to use my head phones with.

I have built a total of 6 Track IR setups, they all work extremely well.

My current Track IR side clip is almost exactly like this one. I don't have a picture of it, so this is a good reference point to give you a idea how it looks. The funny thing is mine is attached to Sennheiser headphones that look just like these.

        My Head Phones

My Current Track IR 3 Point Hat Model

        Side View

        Front ISO with hat

I will attach Pictures of finished product once I get it cleaned up looking with shrink tubing. Electrical tape was used to hold wiring and LEDs.

        Here is Parts used
        1 - Battery Holder - 4 AA 1.5v (Not Shown) - $2.00
        1 - Mini-Toggle Swtich (Not Shown) - $1.70
        1 - Male/Female Quick Disconnect (Not Shown) - $2.00 (pack)
        1 - 43 Ohm Resistor (Not Shown) $.99 Pack

1 - Wire 3 Point clip Inspired from TrackIR Clip - FREE
        3 - 485p LEDs - $3 or 4 bucks for 50 of more

$10 Bucks Total Spent on Track Clip

Only other thing needed is a webcam.

Here is what I based my latest design off of. The original Track IR size, placement, and style.

TrackIR is the greatest thing ever for Arma , Racing games and flight sim games. Its kinda expensive but its worth it if you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

Or you can take the more industrious route like Phobia and do a DIY with freetrack.

For mods i use this add-on manager so I dont have 300 shortcuts with the different mods I play:

Thanks for the suggestion Phobia. I can't believe I found the ArmA 2 info I was looking for, here on OS. I just finished building a new computer and bought Arma 2 and OA off steam last week. I searched armaholic but I was lost. I tried a sound mod, but I did not know what else to try. I use the ArmA 2 launcher, so that makes things easy.

This game is amazing. I just need to get used to all of the controls. I had to map a few actions to my G500 because I was getting finger cramps.

Thanks again. Off to try ACE...

I've been playing the campaign on veteran and having a blast with it. I managed to complete the one shot kill sniper scenario mission on ACE 2 as well which I'm definitely proud of. I actually got 3 one shot kills sniping in the scenario. All from different ranges so I had to adjust the scope 3 times. I'm just about familiar with the controls.

Online servers seems to be all co-op which is kind of disappointing. I would have liked to get some competitive multiplayer in.

The only weird thing is I can't run Combined Ops. Only Operation Arrowhead.

Oh and I had to redo my installation Phobia. For whatever reason, despite me following your instructions to the letter, I could not play or reload the single player missions from previous saves.

I redid it using the six updater suite. So now I can at least reload old saves and I'm having no issues with any of the scenarios or campaign missions.

The only similarity is not being able to run Combined Ops. Something is obviously screwy but I'll take it as it is for now.

Keith, so when you start Steam and you go to "Game List" there should be two games listed for ARMA 2. One will say ARMA 2 and the other ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead. Then when you right click on ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead you should be able to select "Play ARMA 2 Combined Arms. This step does not show that?

Also did you install your files into the Operation Arrowhead folder? You don't want to install them in the ARMA 2 folder, you want to make sure they are installed in the OPERATION ARROWHEAD folder.

Just trying to figure out what the issue could be.

Also yea the multiplayer is 99.9% all coop. You might run across once ina blue moon a PvP server but it is very very rare. But I enjoy the coop 10 times more because getting enough players on to do a PvP server is impossible just about.

ARMA II $7.99 on Steam right now.

ARMA II: Combined Operations $26.99 on Steam right now.

You want combined operations without a doubt. Having just ARMA II is a waste because every online server will run combined ops. Plus you will fly through ARMA II and then after that you will need to download some missions which 90% will require combined ops.

Just picked up combined ops but I'm waiting until I get the ace mod before I try the game out. That is unless combined ops is already realistic enough, anyone know?

Ooook, anyone home lol? I'm wondering if combined ops is realistic enough to play without the ace mod?

For example. After playing arma2 standalone with the ace mod, will I be disappointed playing combined ops without it? I don't have Internet at the moment so I can't get ace for combined ops right now.

KOV, I think it depends on how long you have to wait to get ace for combined ops. If you are use to ace, you will be a little disappointed. But you can still have fun messing around with the new new units and vehicles introduced in OA until you get ace mod for OA.
