I need to get my computer room finished. I am lost without playing some ARMA 2!! I am redoing my gaming PC (writing Zeros to the hard drive and fresh windows install).

Ohhhhh it will be great to get back into some realistic combat

Just ordered Combined Ops from Amazon... Been playing the OA demo for a few days now. I LOVE this type of game!!!

Just been messing with the editor.

Anyone know if i could DL patches/add-ons for the demo or do i have to wait for the full versions?

also, been thinking about getting an XBOX 360 wired controller. (console gamer here). Hopefully it will help my flying... any opinions on this?

goodness got to finish some of the training...i cant get passed the sniper tutorial one!

need to learn all the buttons and mechanics of this...

Yes, I used my 360 wired controller for gameplay. With ARMA II, the game already has a standard FPS controller layout and the controller configured itself and worked flawlessly. You may need to change around a few buttons for personal preference.

With ARMA 1, I had to find my save file and configure the .ini to map the controller's sensitivity. With the 360 controller, strafting and looking up and down were wayyy to sensitive. As for the rest of the buttons, shouldn't be a problem there.


Flying and driving with the 360 controller are great as well as the FP action.....once you get it to your liking.

so I play this on my imac via bootcamp (windows 7) will i need to download any drivers for the 360 controller to work or is it just a plug and play... will be picking one up this week... just wondering...

also, what is the server of choice for os players? any clans?

I am going to start recording some ARMA 2 mission footage in the next week or so. If we can get many of us on at the same time, we can run through some excellent missions I have downloaded.

They got Arma free now, could way to test game out, team and huge is best way i can describe, reminds me of original operation flashpoint on pc, classic.

Just picked up ARMA II for free on Greenmangaming.com. Do a search for codes and pick it up this weekend. They also have men of war for free with the code. No credit card required to make the purchase.

Once I get my new laptop or upgrade my PC I'll be replaying it. I also bought ARMA 2 but never played it as it just wouldn't run correct on my system.

Yep...that's why I re-installed. I never got the most out of the game on my old rig(s)

I played a little more through Red Harvest last night, just to get used to the controls again. Great game. Very underrated IMO. This and Operation Flashpoint used to get a lot of my gaming time.
Anybody try Red Orchestra?
If so, is it still an "on the rails" game. I love how in Arma.....they give you the objective and pretty much let you go at it. If something doesn't go as planned (such as the sniper in the early map) it just makes thing harder for you and your allies...but the game continues. We need more of that in games.
