I'm down for some arma 2. Like millennium, I haven't done anything else the game has to offer yet.

I should be on Steam: Xavier_12 between 12 and 5 EST so message me and we'll get a group together.

Phobia recommended the ACE mod for multiplayer and it is pretty awesome. That or we can group up for some Day Z.

Edit: Day Z has been updated to 1.6 so make sure you update before you play. Wouldn't be a Day Z session without a "Waiting for Server Response".

Sure can. You can even add ARMA 2 on Steam under Add Game +/Add non Steam game.

I spent the afternoon playing Day Z on the Seattle 4 server.

Things started off well and I acquired some ammo and food. I was ambushed in a building by some zombies but took them out and bandaged myself up.

I made my way to a three storey abandoned building and gathered some more supplies. I was looking off of the roof and saw what appeared to be a bandit on his belly crawling away from town. I kept my head down and didn't bother trying to take him out with just my handgun.

A minute or two or looking out to see what was going on I spotted two survivors. They saw me as I was gesturing towards them and they came to the roof of the building. I was nervous thinking they might just take me out but they were cool and I even put down some supplies as a peace offering and to show them I was friendly. They accepted and it looked like a little group was now formed...

The shot hit me and totally surprised me. I regained control to see which one of the two shot me but it wasn't them. There was someone (I can only assume the earlier bandit) in stairwell. The last thing I saw was the light of his gun going off as the next bullet ended me.

Tragic way to go out. Would have loved to have known if the other survivors made it.

Anyways get on Seattle 4 and lets group up everyone!

On a side note I love using the Six Launcher for this game. You can easily cycle between Day Z and ACE and find servers quick and easy. Only problem is Steam doesn't identify it as your playing so my status is just "away" or "busy".

I don't know when I'll be on next, but I'll check out Seattle 4! My schedule and gaming time sucks now, but it'd be awesome to try and hook up with you guys.

I don't usually end up making a ton of progress. I spawn, try to get some items on my way to a city, and die lol. Sounds boring, but I really enjoy all of it for some reason!

I do wish the smaller cities had a bit more loot, seems really tough to find a gun sometimes.

I'm trying to say "friendly" and whatnot, but a lot of people are evil as well, so that's how I usually end up dying.

I'm so glad I got this though, I think as the dev matures the game into a full mod release it'll get even better. It'd be cool if there was some goal besides survival...not sure what that should be though.

Yeah, so had no idea that Six Launcher would install the mods too.

That's half a day wasted. Oh well, can't wait for some Day Z! Need to have an OS night.

This I agree. Any afternoon/early evening for you guys from this weekend on I am free as I have next week off.

Apparently new patch is out that greatly reduces time it takes to join a game. Have to update and see.

I have been real busy lately and will be out of town again this weekend. Hopefully next weekend I will be home and able to get some games in.

Was bored at work and reading the Day Z forums. Found the sub forum "Day Z Stories" and had a look through.

                            This one particularly stood out:
I knew I wasn't alone in Berezino as I crawled from structure to structure, avoiding the undead and stalking my unseen prey. The echoes of gunshots is what drew me; ever ahead, always out of sight.

I took to the high ground whenever I could, scanning my surroundings for potential threats, trying to discern the origin of the shots. They came intermitently, two, maybe three at a time. Confident shots.

I looked to the zeds for guidance, but they continued their aimless lumbering, as oblivious as me. Whoever was shooting, they were keeping it under control. Shots that eliminated threats and kept the horde from coming closing in.

I reached the now-abandoned hospital and rifled through the old triage tents for supplies where I was met with a stunning sight: dead zeds, about fifteen or more, stewn about the entrance of a couple of tents. Had my lone prey done all this?

I loaded up on what I figured I would need: bandages, epi-pens, blood bags. At this point, I decided my prey was perhaps a little too dangerous and my best bet for survival would be a quick retreat away from this infested place.

As I turn the corner, I see him: laying prone on his stomach, gun pointed straight at me. He has the drop on me and my thoughts race: do I turn and shoot, or do I stand still and hope for the best?

Before I come to a decision, I notice movement in the corner of my eye and slowly turn. Some of my earlier questions are answered when I see two more survivors, also prone, one with a Winchester pointed straight at me.

Not a word is said between any of us. The one I spotted first stands up, slowly, deliberately, and gives me a salute. Making no sudden moves myself, keeping my pistol aimed at the ground, I slowly stand and return the salute.

Satisfied, two of them move on back into the triage tents. I consider joining them, but the one with the Winchester keeps it aimed at me, sidestepping cautiously and never wavering.

                            Okay, I get the message.

I turn away from him, exposing my back, and dash off in the opposite direction. With every step, I pray he doesn't decide to shoot.

Miraculously, I reach the treeline and start breathing again.

There was nothing stopping them from taking me out except their own sense of humanity, and for that I am grateful.
The tension and excitement this mod brings is nothing I have experienced in gaming.

Yea the mod does have a extremely real world feel to it. Stories like that just show it off.

I just hope they fix a few things.

                              1) Zombies should remain fast in buildings. I have survived many encounters with large numbers of zombies by myself just by running into a building so they all must be forced to walk. Which equals easy killing for me.

                              2) Zombie speed needs to be slowed down greatly. They should run the same speed as the player. They should not run faster and can't swipe while running.

                              3) Harsher penalties for bandits should be given. If you decided to be a bandit and reduce your humanity then you should pay some kind of price upon death. Such as worse spawns than "good" players.

                              4) More zombies should exist in the fields of the wilderness. They should not ONLY be in cities or towns. Running through the woods with no worry other than bandits should not be the case. You should be fearful with every step.

                              5) Couple more I just can't think of right now.

I cleaned out an extremely small village by myself today. Holy hell was that hard.

Edit: Also, Phobia, are you in Shack Tac? I'm watching their vids, and it looks like some crazy fun. I've tried the ACE mod, which is excellent.
