    1) Zombies should remain fast in buildings. I have survived many encounters with large numbers of zombies by myself just by running into a building so they all must be forced to walk. Which equals easy killing for me.

    2) Zombie speed needs to be slowed down greatly. They should run the same speed as the player. They should not run faster and can't swipe while running.

    3) Harsher penalties for bandits should be given. If you decided to be a bandit and reduce your humanity then you should pay some kind of price upon death. Such as worse spawns than "good" players.

    4) More zombies should exist in the fields of the wilderness. They should not ONLY be in cities or towns. Running through the woods with no worry other than bandits should not be the case. You should be fearful with every step.

    5) Couple more I just can't think of right now.
I agree with you on all counts, but I think they'd have to adjust where you can find some loot (weapons, ammo, etc), because if they add more zombies (especially in the woods) then it'll be pretty impossible to survive with current loot areas. Most smaller areas don't have anything useful from my experiences.

I will say that I've only probably played 10ish hours of DayZ, so my experience may just be bad luck. Most towns I'd run into didn't have much, and even most barns were cleared out.

Edit: Also, Phobia, are you in Shack Tac? I'm watching their vids, and it looks like some crazy fun. I've tried the ACE mod, which is excellent.
No I am not in shack tac, I tend to play on the 7th cav realism servers mainly. It is basically the same as shack tac but slightly more "rank" driven. You can't just drive or fly anything, you must have permission and have correct clearance. You also must take Chinooks to combat areas with 20 other soldiers, no lone wolfing.

I love the realism 7th cav entails, and I play there the most. The only draw back it is a vanilla server and runs no mods. ACE is the greatest mod and really makes the game very realistic, so I wish they used at least generic ACE.

The sound effects of ACE I think is what really sets it apart.

Well I think surviving and finding loot SHOULD be darn near impossible. Think about the world it is supposedly portraying. A zombie ridden world where everyone is looting and trying to stay alive. There would not be tons of items around, coming across dead bodies with loot on them would be more common and this is how I have received most of my good items. Listen for the flies and home in on the dead body. I have come across several long time players who had tons of items and I gladly took it off the rotting corpse.

Also cities should contain the vast majority of the zombies, but the wilderness should not be just a complete safe zone. Considering that most of the map is made up of wilderness you can in essence grab gear and head out there to survive forever. There should be some lurking in the woods.

My opinion is the game should be tough as nails to survive. The initial survival right after spawn is low due to how many stay in those areas. Once you make it out of there and head north away from the coast, survival goes up greatly as well as loot. So I find it little to easy to survive once you head inland due to the lack of zombies, lack of human players, etc.

Makes sense...I usually get killed on my way to get some supplies before going inland north (like to the Airfield or somewhere)...when I was running around the woods looking for deer stands (which were all empty, ugh) I never saw another person and almost no zombies.

I had an interesting little run into town when I was looking for loot. Walking along buildings, I hear a few shots here and there but just ignored them. Found a church with a rifle and ammo, sound of someone shooting was getting a little closer so I decided to go to the construction site with a few stories to get a better look down into town to spot whoever. There was 1 zombie at the site but instead of sneaking, I shot it and that would attract attention of whoever. I climbed the few stories, looked and zoned out a little bit just getting some ideas of where to go, I turned around to see a guy finish climbing the ladder and take a shot or two at me. He missed both shots, leaving me an easy choice of shooting back and killing him. Had I not killed the zombie with the pistol, I doubt that bandit would have tracked me down and try to kill me for the rifle I stumbled upon

Unfortunately, I have to work tonight, so I could not be there. I could be on later tonight if it is a real marathon.

The ACE mod is just as good as the DayZ mod, IMO.

                This game is soooooooooooooooooo good.

Just curious... whats the point of this then if youre just trying to survive.. just hours of running around for nothing at all?

You must be referring to day Z, to a degree I guess. You will spend weeks of your real time trying to find good loot and supplies and surviving that long becomes almost impossible. So really the draw of the game is TRYING to survive, since it is so difficult.

Surviving entails a lot of things
                    • Trusting no one, but teaming up cautiously to survive encounters
                    • Venturing into areas you know contain zombies and bandits because you have to get food and drinks to live.
                    • Looking for weapons to be able to handle encounters better.
                    • Looting villages in search of better supplies like maps, flash lights, bigger back packs, bandages, etc
                    • Running around with no care will equal to a quick death, so sneaking and low crawling through areas become hugely important to survive.

If you can do those things long enough you might be able to make it couple days of playing. Surviving longer than that becomes even tougher, because you can't just go to the wilderness and hide out forever. You have to find food and water and being forced to go find it results in you getting into situations that can kill anyone no matter how much good supplies you have or how great you weapon is. Hordes 20+ strong will take out a lone wolf all the time, and a bandit 1,500 meters away with a sniper rifle can easily pick you off with one shot before you even knew what happened.

It would be nice to bring more "structure" to the point of playing, but that also is what makes it so enticing to play, it truly is do whatever you want, how you want, and just survive. Extremely simple and it works.

What's the best areas to go to when looking for loot at the start? Small towns and barns never have anything for me (I've yet to get a quality gun).

Any hints on how not to die or where to try and go? I usually end up looting smaller towns, not finding anything, and eventually zombies get me because I'm low on ammo or have nowhere to run.

Also, do you guys sometimes hear flies buzzing but not actually find a body? I hate when I get excited for a body and never find it.

Finding loot is pretty hit or miss. I tend to like the big barn silos on farms. I have found some of my best stuff in those.

Off the start I generally hit one of the major cities, look for medical supplies & possible weapons. Then from there I head north and start hitting the smaller villages. Key to not dieing is moving SLOW and staying crouched or low crawling. This will keep zombies off you and from bandits noticing you and picking you off to a degree. Teaming up with other survivors can help survival also.

As far as the flies, have not had that happen yet. I normally find a body if I hear them.

Gotcha. I'll try and be slower. I probably get a little impatient at times.

Just need to have my loot luck get better. 4 or 5 times I've made it to an airfield only to find no quality loot...

Shows how good this game is though, when I don't find any loot I get that despair and anger feeling, somewhat like I bet it'd feel like in real life...Hoping to find something to find it empty.

Just started messing around with DayZ WOW

1st game was a dark and rainy start, add the music and I was feeling the spookiness. I came to a little village and was so worried about being spotted I must have belly crawled the last 1/4 mile into town. I found some food but still no weapon when I was attack by a zombie, I spent the next 5 miles running for my life. Broke leg, dead.

My second game I was much more free, worked my way to the city and hooked up with another guy until he found a gun and killed me. I happen to respawn right outside the city and went running back in, he had died in a shoot out with 2 other guys at the church who also died. I found myself with a ton of food and guns, yet I knew it was a bad place to be hanging out. It wasn't long before more people showed up and the fight started, I held my ground in the church until they had zombie issues and I made my break.

I worked my way over to the firehouse and was shocked to find a M4 cq waiting for me and when I went up the tower I traded my m9 for an uzi. I head out to the tree line to call it a night, but I lost that toon in the new patch.

Alot of fun and It would be great to work with some OS guys, the lack of trust with random people makes it rough. Between the music, zombies, need for food/water, and other people looking to do harm, this game involving me.

I usually only get 20-30 minute chunks in DayZ, but it'd be awesome to have a group you know. As of now I usually get armed in Cherno/Electro and sometimes end up dying before getting a good enough gun. I'm at least getting farther than I was before dying though!

Such a fun game though, makes the grind of surviving feel fun and intense.

Always interested in joining a group. My problem is my time zone but if there is a will there is a way and it is worth the effort for DayZ.
