    Dead Rising 2

    Confirmed

Capcom today revealed that Dead Rising 2 is in development for the Xbox 360 and also the PS3 and PC platforms. The new game is being produced by Capcom's Keiji Inafune and developed by members of the original game's team in partnership with Canada's Blue Castle Games. No release date has been set.

The sequel will take place several years after the zombie invasion of Willamette. The original virus escaped containment and has now spread throughout the entire country. Players will now have to combat tens of thousands of zombies and explore the new "gambling paradise" of Fortune City. The designers also promise that there will be lots of new objects you can use to kill the zombies. We're guessing bludgeoning them to death with slot machines or shooting them with slices of $5.99 prime rib are going to be high on the list.

Looks good, hopefully they ditched the time restraints of the first one (which were removed for the Wii remake, so that could be good). Love the aspect of killin' zombies in Vegas.

Yeah, Dead Rising without dumb time constraints would be awesome....

I hope so too, that time restraint kind of sucked.

I third that the time constraints were horrible.

Is the first one worth picking up? I've thought about it but have never pulled the trigger.

I'm with you guys on getting rid of the time constraints -
the funny thing is, that wasn't part of the game originally and was added to give the game more 'structure'.

I always found a way to have fun in the first one, but the time constraints really get to be annoying the farther you get along in the game.

I would advise maybe a rental first.

Its worth it. Like Cubby says, rent it first if you can.

The time restraints are a pain, but in some ways do work for the gameplay structure. I just wish they would have had some kind of mode where you can turn off the time too and play through the main game.

What are the time restraints? Time trials or something similar to beat or what?

I think you have a limited time to do a certain mission to progress further into the story. Sorry if this isn't what you're talking about.

It works like this. Say you get a mission where you have to find something in the "music shop", but you are way on the other side of the mall. It gives you 3:00 min to reach your objective. The problem lies that the entire mall is filled to the brim with zombies everywhere. hundreds and hundreds, they get in your way, slow you down. Then you still have to complete your mission under the time given. It is a really great game but can be tough as hell in some spots. But there is nothing like slamming a bowling ball in the skull of a zombie or grabbing a stack of CDs and slinging them at zombies knocking them back. It will be a classic on the system.

It also would force you to choose between objectives. Two different people will be on separate sides of the mall and you wouldn't have time to save both. I understand what they were trying to do, just made the game not quite as much fun because of all the zombies slowing you down. Escort missions blew because of the time constraints. You couldn't take your time getting someone back because the timer might run out on you.

They need to get rid of the save system too. First game is great until you die the first time and then you get to start all over again.
