Is the first one worth picking up? I've thought about it but have never pulled the trigger.

I just bought a used copy at Blockbuster for $7.99. Definitely worth the price.
It's been fun so far. Last night I used a lawnmower and mowed over a dozen or so stupid zombies. I was laughing out loud much to my wife's disgust.

What's great about buying this game so cheap is that it's valued at $9.25 at EB Games. So when I'm done, I'm going to trade it in for a profit. Nice!

We got some brand new screenshots straight out of the new demo that our Japanese colleagues recently showed off. The screenshots show off Chuck's ability to combine items to create some deadly weapons that he's going to need to fight off the incoming hordes of zombies.

Dead Rising 2 doesn't have much of a connection with the original -- different main character, less of a story-driven campaign, bigger emphasis on creativity. It's still a lot of fun.

The portion I played puts you in the middle of a Vegas-like strip full of bright lights and ugly zombies. You have ten minutes to rack up 20,000 points to initiate a bonus round. There are zombies everywhere. And I really do mean everywhere. You can barely swing a mallet without knocking down a dozen zombies. And oh the blood. Zombies get crushed, split in half, decapitated, mulched. All that blood splatters on your outfit over ten minutes until you are drenched in the stuff.

The weapons in Dead Rising 2 have seen some serious upgrades. A lawnmower was fun to use in the first Dead Rising, but the portable version in Dead Rising 2 is far superior. You hold the body of the lawnmower, without the long handle, hit the attack button once to rev it up and then go have some fun. Swing this two-handed weapon and you rip the faces off zombies. Hold down the attack button and you hold the mower over a zombie and then push down, turning them into mulch from head to toe. The zombies even spin as they are forced through the mower's blade.

There are dozens upon dozens of combinations to unlock. So not only are the weapons by themselves better than the original, but the combos take them to a new level of destructiveness.

So what about the boobs? Okay, so there was no nudity in the demo. However, Dead Rising 2 does feature a sex shop. Hop inside and scan the posters of Space Beaver or jump into some assless chaps just for the hell of it. Be sure to grab a "massager." The eight-inch vibrating pink stick can be thrown at zombies, knocking them down. There are some other great little sexual innuendos to be found in the demo, but really, you should be allowed to discover some of these cute little perversions yourself.

At the end of the ten minute run, I was covered in the blood of about 300 zombies. Some had been barbecued, some had been sliced in half, many more had been pummeled. I'm ready for more.

Dead Rising 2, if it plays out at all like this most recent demo, has been boiled down to a series of sandbox events. It's hard to say if that will stay fresh and exciting for 10-15 hours, but for a short experience, it's a lot of fun.

Captivate 2010: Dead Rising 2 gets Co-Op; Prologue story details

Capcom has announced story details for Dead Rising 2’s Prologue, which is to be released exclusively through Xbox Live ahead of the game’s release, along with co-op coming to the game.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will “give fans the full experience” while introducing the player to what unfolds for Chuck Greene when the core game is released – along with a drug called Zombex and a pimp and some ‘hos.

Apparently, Chuck and his daughter find themselves caught in the desert town of Small Creek which has been overrun with zombies. It’s set two years after the Wilammete incident, and three before the action of Dead Rising 2.

• Thousands of Zombies On Screen: The undead are everywhere creating a dynamic and challenging zombie-killing experience for the player as weapons will be created to kill massive amounts of zombies at one time!

• Combo Weapons; Players can combine two everyday items using duct tape to create the ultimate zombie killing creations such as the Portamower and Paddlesaw. Unlocking combo cards along the way will give players the advantage as the helpful cards will show you what items are best for combining. The more zombies you destroy using your creative combo’s, the more Prestige Points you can earn which levels up Chuck along the way.

Wow. I totally read this as Dead Space 2 and was totally freaking confused as to why this biker jack wearing guy was carrying a paddle around and had boxing gloves with knives on them.

I thought they were going in a really, really new direction or something.

Can't wait for this game to come out. Only one question though. It says that the release date is 8-31-10 on GameFly, yet on GameSpot it lists the release date as 10-31-10, so which one is it? Heres hoping it's the former, although if it was Holloween (my 2nd favorite holladay) it would add a nice touch, thus forcing me to hang up my shaving creame and eggs this year, which would be replaced by this game.

Capcom revealed this morning that it has pushed back the release of zombie sequel Dead Rising 2 in Europe and North America by a month.

The game was originally due out on August 31 and September 3 in the U.S. and PAL regions, respectively. However, it’ll now hit store shelves in North America on September 28, while Europe gets it on October 1.

No reason was given for the delay, though hopefully it’ll boil down to Capcom simply wanting to give the game an extra coating of spit and polish before release. Dead Rising 2 is due out on PS3, 360 and PC.

Do you plan on buying this game?

I think its going to be one a <NOBR>great</NOBR> game, granted it will eventually get boring just killing zombies over and over again. Although I think they made the story line much more enjoyable. If you have yet to see any gameplay of this game, I recommend checking out these two videos, these were taken in April... The game comes out at the end of August. So you'll see how good this game looks 5 months ahead of the release date, just imagine it when it comes out. Anyway heres links to the videos:

I think this could easily be one of the best games of 2010 (Of course behind Madden 11 and FIFA 11).
