Im completely torn on this game as Ive never been a fan of RPG games in the past and all I keep hearing is that this is a hardcore RPG game. Whats strange is every single gameplay video Ive seen looks nothing like an RPG style game so Im completely confused here. Is this a harcore RPG like a Final Fantasy or not? If anyone can set me straight that would sure be appreciated.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Nah Chef it's more a FPS with RPG elements than a hardcore RPG (imo). Easy to pick up and play, but with added depth in story and character development.
If you guys are on the fence about New Vegas maybe go pick up Fallout 3 for dirt cheap used somewhere and see if you like it. I'm more of sports / FPS type of guy normally and I LOVED Fallout 3 and put well over 120+ hours into it.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Had also heard about how these games were hardcore RPG's with people sinking hundreds of hours into it and I'd never played Oblivion or Fallout 3 so I wasn't sure if it was something I'd like.
Ended up giving Fallout 3 a run about a year back and really enjoyed it so can't wait for this.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Im probably one of the only ones who wont play Hardcore Mode. Just seems like more of a chore for me then actually enjoying the game.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I may go back through it on hardcore mode the 2nd time or something if i get the urge but i'll just be playing it in 'normal mode' the first time through.Comment

I live in hardcore mode, that's enough for me. I hate having to shave everyday and I can't even manage to drink my daily allotment of water.YNWAComment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Gonna go with hardcore from the start. Loved FO3 but halfway through the game you became a walking arsenal. I loved the beginning when you really had to grit it out!
I probably know the answer I'll get but here goes anyway...was there any difference between the PS3 version and the 360 version of FO3? Tryin' to decide which one I should preorder. Doesn't really make a diff to me which one I get.Don't blame me for what those nitwits said...They don't speak for me!!!Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I had both versions at one point. Honestly, the PS3 version sometimes ran really slow. Like the game became laggy almost and was freezing up randomly. It may just be that my PS3 is getting old, but I was playing it last week and it felt pretty glitchy. The XBOX 360 version is by no means un-glitchy but I felt like the 360 handled and processed the game better, making it run smoother. Most games I can't really tell the difference, but this and Oblivion I felt ran much better on the 360.Last edited by CC; 10-14-2010, 07:43 AM.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
The hardcore mode sounds interesting and I like some of the challenges it presents, but I am thinking it will make the game too difficult for me as everything else will also ramp up in difficulty.
I understand that is the point, but it would be cool if the hardcore options (having to drink water, sleeping in beds not healing you fully) were available as a secondary option playing on normal difficulty.
Fallout 3 was one of the best games ever, can't wait for this to drop. Not enough time though as others have said, going to have to fit this in though.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Yeah I have the PS3 and Fallout 3 ran really slow at times and froze up on numerous occasions.
I bought a slim ps3 a few months ago so hopefully New Vegas will run better on it.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Yeah, I played it on the PS3 as well. I guess I remember some issues but nothing earth shattering. Although I never played the dlc I remember hearing that some of the content was FUBAR'd on the PS3. I didn't have an xbox back then so the ps3 was the only game in town. Now I have both as well as a laptop that could probably run it quite well. I don't think I want to get it for the PC cause there is just something to be said for sitting on my sectional and blowing mutants away in surround sound!!!
Looks like I'll be preordering the CE on the 360 from Amazon if it is still available.Don't blame me for what those nitwits said...They don't speak for me!!!Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Hardcore all the way for me! I don't care about how quick I can post "I finished the game!!" or really about achievements.
For me it's all about a challenge and getting the best bang for MY hard earned money. Don't care how long it takes me to finish the game. The longer, harder it is, the better.
With that said if it isn't challenging in the right way then I'll drop down.....
Anyone know if you can have 2 saves going at the same time??? That way IF it gets a little BS''y I can always go back and forth. Doubt you can though...
I understand why though some wouldn't want to... To each their own.Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-14-2010, 11:56 AM.Joshua:

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Hardcore mode sounds interesting but I doubt I will try it because ammunition will have weight. I always had too much weight in Fallout 3 when ammunition had no weight. I felt like I was always trying to sell my items just to make room for new items. I would go nuts in Hardcore mode with that issue alone.Comment
