Just a heads up if anyone else is getting the retail PC version. Turn OFF Steam/don't have it running before you put in the disc. Otherwise it'll download it from Steam and you'll have to wait.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Got a question. Those here who know me, know I like to play Shooters. Would Fallout be my cup of tea? Or are there too many RPG elements for a shooter fan to like it? I never play RPG's so I am curious.follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/eton_riflesComment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
You might be better off with Borderlands which is an FPS first with a little RPG mixed in. Some upcoming games, Rage and Brink also look like they'd be good FPS first/RPG secondary games.
You could pick up Fallout 3 now for cheap to try for yourself. Its about the same game as Fallout Vegas. Or Mass Effect 2 if you like sci-fi.Last edited by Pete1210; 10-19-2010, 10:35 AM.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
If you are unsure... you could/should pick up Fallout 3 used off of amazon for like 10 dollars. Then if you really like it, you could purchase the only two good DLC's (Brotherhood of Steel and Point Lookout), because the rest aren't worth it, so GOTY edition doesn't matter.
But, I'd say to try FO3 before you pay full price on the new one, as it's apparently really similar to FO3.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I played for three hours last night on my 360 and didn't have any problems with glitches or freezing.
If you liked F3 you'll love this game. Can't wait to get off work and put in a few more hours exploring the Mojave.xbl gamertag: n8 b 77

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I may not even crack open the box yet. I got the collectors edition and will pick up this evening but I'm more excited for Fable 3. I might wait until I finish that then delve into Fallout for those cold wintery daysJoshua:

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I may wait for one of the B2G1 deals at BB or Amazon for Fable 3...I'll get it no matter what, but I can't pick up two of these crazy games at the same time, not enough time.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I'm getting Fable 3 as well at some point, but it's just a more lighter, different game. Still awesome and deep, but I live for the games with real story like Fallout...Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Man... this game is great. I'm only 2 or 2.5 hours in, but I'm loving it. Better characters, story, graphics. Haven't had a freeze yet and I am playing on the 360S (knock on wood). Just took a break to give my xbox some time off.
IMO it's better than FO3 in every way, but then again I haven't gotten really deep yet (Just got to Primm).
I'm already re-addicted to the fallout world and I haven't even done anything really fun yet.
By the way, I really like that there are actual animals and plants to collect (like RDR or Oblivion), instead of just those mutated monsters with no vegetation.
It plays just like FO3, but is better. So, if you like FO3 you'll definitely like this one as well.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Gotcha. Basically it's a long, long exploration action RPG. You run around aiming, shooting, collecting stuff, etc. When you level up you get points and "perks" to assign that tailor your character towards how you like to play (guns, melee, certain weapons types, science, etc). You can just play through the storyline if you want, but the big part of these games are the 40ish hours of random exploration and quests you can stumble onto.
I wouldn't let the RPG aspect scare you though, it's not like a Final Fantasy type thing at all, more just giving you options on how you want to play.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
