It looks like I'll be breaking down myself and picking this up. Time to gather a few trade-in's for BB. I enjoyed the first one a lot on the PC and was going to wait on part 2, but this is getting way too good reviews.

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
I got the opportunity last night to watch my buddy open the game and pop it in (360)for the 1st time last night. IGN and Gametrailers weren't exagerating imo when they said this was the best looking game/FPS on consoles. My jaw dropped in the opening 20 minutes and I probably could have watched him play the game for an hour or two more and been content. It felt like I was watching a big budget summer blockbuster film. Great presentation! The lighting, shadows, scenery is gorgeous. I hope to pick this game up this weekend........EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
Obviously more confined than Crysis, but this still remains a player-driven experience - multiple approach tactical sandboxes, lots of environment and object interaction, level design sometimes allows you to bypass content. This is the type of shooter I want to see more of, where it doesn't feel like I'm being funneled down a narrow path to one scripted Michael Bay set piece after another. Granted Crysis 2 isn't immune to this, but its level design is more like an hourglass than a straight line.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
This game is incredible. By far my favorite game that I have ever played on a console, FPS or otherwise. The IGN review actually does a good job outlining this one and sums it up perfectly that there are some glaring errors at times in the game but those issues are easily overcome by other things in the game.
For example, my one major issue is with the AI. I am playing on the hardest difficulty and there are times that while cloaked I can watch the AI when it is scrambling to find me and it gets hung on the environment and Mario runs directly against the environmental obstruction or just does something really dumb to expose itself. I have also seen multiple enemies jam up together out in the open. Not frequent by any means but its an eyesore when it happens and its made even more evident given you can enter stealth mode and watch behind the scenes unlike other games.
Funny thing is that these moments are made all the more noticeable, but also in some way excusable because of the AI when it shines. I have watched the AI properly sweep and clear hallways and corridors while slicing the pie at doorways (granted not looking up and down but you can tell they are clearing doors in degrees) looking for me and have seen them take aggressive attack lines trying to flank and either out maneuver me or pull me out of cover without exposing themselves.
Agree with the earlier comment that it’s obviously more restricted than the original but still open enough to take wildly different paths to objectives, not just the tunnel on the left or the tunnel on the right that other shooters have presented as non-linear. Would have loved the open-ness from the first one in New York. Would be awesome to cut through any of the buildings or traverse up them and be able to dictate your shooting angles from windows.
Really…really…really enjoying this one.Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
PS3 guy here.
Just picked it up and it was the LAST copy (I didn't reserve).
***On a side note, the manager at Gamestop told me Japan is having a real tough time shipping out their hardware/software (since the disaster), so it may be a bit harder to get games, etc for a little while.
...but video games are the LEAST of my worries. My thoughts & prayers go out to those over in Japan.Currently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:
- EA Sports College Football 25 - PS5
- MLB The Show 24 - PS5
- The Elder Scrolls V: SKYRIM - XBOX SERIES X

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
I have it on 360. It's actually getting better. So much eye candy everywhere. The lighting and special effects are probably the best I have seen on the 360 and PS3.
The 3D takes a small resolution hit compared to the 2D version but it's nothing major unlike most 3d games. This is the showpiece for 3d games so far IMO.
So far this is the best FPS single player I have played on a console.Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
I'll probably go PS3......
I have a launch 360 with no hdmi. So no 3d either. Just another reason why when i drop down to just one system it will be the 360 that goes bye bye.Last edited by Skyboxer; 03-23-2011, 05:05 PM.Joshua:

I went 360 from Amazon earlier. I thought you already sold your 360 from previous posts so I removed you from my friends list. Sorry. LOLComment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
I ended up getting the ps3 and 360 version, and I have to say, the 360 seems alot better to me. I don't know if its because my tv is LED, or if my ps3 is on the fritz, but the framerate on 360 is just loads better. The game is also MUCH more clear on the 360. I would say it is alot like the difference in two worlds 2 as far as clarity goes...
That being said, I am not a huge multiplayer person, so I am only going off of single player here. But to that end, it's just a much better experience to me on the 360...Comment
