I got the $10 Amazon promo credit for Brink twice, yay. I wonder if they'll fix this mistake.

Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)
I didn't like it at first. But after leveling up and unlocking new attributes and weapon mods, I'm starting to come around.
I don't like that it takes almost a full clip to put down most enemies, and if you're on a team that isn't communicating you have zero chance of winning. But when you get in a game with some guys who actually want to complete objectives and win, it's pretty fun.
My biggest concern right now is the awful slowdown on Xbox Live. I've had to quit four games today because the framerate made it unplayable. I popped in Black Ops and everything ran smooth, so I'm guessing those issues aren't on my end. Hopefully this gets worked out because the game has potential.
I dig the SMART movement and the level of customization is unmatched in the FPS genre. But I have a feeling that the underwhelming graphics and no deathmatch modes will lead to this becoming a niche title that appeals to only a dedicated segment of FPS fans -- namely those who can't stand CoD, Halo, etc.Comment

Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)
Just a few quick points from playing into the wee hours last night:
The thing that stands out to me the most is Parkour and SMART - once you try them movement in other games might seem dull. This isn't Black Ops' dive and go prone move, you can slide around corners and pop off a few rounds (though rather inaccurately if you actually fire while moving) and climb onto just about anything that looks like it can be reached. That alone makes this game feel fresh.
The game runs...okay on my PC that I posted a while back in this thread. Not 60 FPS - but not extremely bad either. It does get choppy in some areas of maps when a bunch of players are on the screen. So just a heads up - be aware that an Intel i7 and Radeon HD 5770 are not enough to get the most out of this game - the system requirement labs site is pretty much on point for this game.
I'm not really a huge fan of the number of hits it takes to bring players down, ESPECIALLY heavies. it's TF2 all over again in that department...
I honestly don't have much to say about the bots at this point because I've mostly been playing vs. actual people. I've done a couple of the challenges but the bots are handicapped in that mode because the challenge is in being able to use all the classes effectively. The game actually comes out and says this before you start, so I'd imagine they're at least a little more capable in the actual matches.
On that point, playing with others has been pretty fun so far. Really not many lag issues at all, although I did have several times where the server list wouldn't come up. It should be noted that you need to go to Freeplay to do competitive multiplayer - if you do the campaign you'll only be playing co-op (at least from what I saw, given that there were only 8 team slots).
Enjoying it so far, will be playing more tonight. Reviews seem all over the map for this one.Comment

Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)
Played 3 matches online after doing a bunch of the single player challenges. It's tough to evaluate right now because the lag is such a problem for me. As it has been said, the key is how much your team works together. If people are buffing each other and medics are using the revive syringes, the game is really fun.
Right now, a lot of people are running and gunning and just don't know the maps very well. I've found sliding works very well as most people are stationary in firefights. Hopefully the lag improves and I can give more detailed impressions tonight. I've been really looking forward to this game for over a year and it does seem fun, I just need a better sample.
Also, the bots on Normal difficulty are beyond stupid when it comes to objectives...haven't tried hard yet.Comment

I ordered from Amazon as well. I don't think it was a mistake. The price was dropped from the preorder price of $59.99 to the current price of $54.99. Instead of giving us $15.00 off they gave us $20.00. I was able to pre-order another game using the $20.00 promotion credit.Comment

This game is really fun but man online lags. You have to get into a good room. Annoying.

Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)
Watching a PC version of this game being played. They have sound issues along with the lag. The sound will be there then suddenly cut out until they get back to the menu screen. Sometimes they'll hear stuff behind them or off to the side but its muffled, otherwise dead silentAaron
