It's unclear when everybody else gets access, Rod Fergusson said mid-April was for everybody else on twitter (@GearsViking) and that BulletStorm people "will get a headstart". They said we'll have more info through the week and during GDC so hopefully this will be cleared up in the next week or so.Comment

I just bought a 360, used to be a ps3 user. And this is my new favorite game but I need so help with online. My friend and I play guardian a lot and I usually end with like 6-8 kills but I always have the most deaths. I try to stay by walls but someone always kills me from behind. So does anyone have some tips for me?Current careers:

first tip would be to stop playing guardian and to hop into some social annex or KOTH. Social is more casual because people jump in and out, the less hardcore players generally play in social playlists so it should be a better way to acclimate you to Gears. Also, annex and KOTH allow for infinite respawns until the round's objective is completed. Guardian only has infinite respawns while your leader is alive.
Second is that Gears has a much steeper learning curve than most online shooters, be prepared to get owned for a while. I have good K/D ratios in other shooters I play but in Gears it's barely above 1.
Third, using cover is fine, but don't use as much as you're tempted to. The reason is you're suctioned to that piece, for lack of a better phrase, which means it's going to take you that extra second to get out of cover. So say you're in cover on a wall corner, waiting for somebody to come by. If there's an open space next to it, he is going to take advantage of that extra space instead of walking really close to the wall. Then he'll see you and have the advantage on killing you because he's got a free shot while you're still trying to get off the wall. Instead, do this: go up the corner but instead of pressing A to body up to the wall, just stand right next to it so your character's face is staring into the wall. Now, you can still see around the corner, but you're not tied to the corner. You can now press A to roll towards the enemy or away from him, and that extra second you have from not being attached to the wall can make the difference between life and death.Lux y VeritasComment

Beta is from April 25th - May 15th, Bulletstorm owners get it a week earlier (April 18th). You get into the beta by pre-ordering through "select" retailers (apparently only Gamestop if you're in the US).
