Yeah, it seems like the game is heading into a much different direction as it was originally created so that has me real worried. But we'll see.
As for the female playable: I have been griping about this for a long time, especially since a lot of females actually play GOW and complain about lack of selectable characters. The devs should have plenty of strong women in media, movies, comics, etc to pull inspiration from.Comment

I honestly say that it worries me a lot. Though they have a solid track record, they might be letting something get to their head. It is definitely too soon to know but I'll be keeping an eye out. I didn't even get into Gears of War 2 good at all. Too many freaking games I have to finish. I feel like a fat kid at a buffet. Not enough intestinal fortitude for all that stuff.......
I remember there was some articles in a few magazines about developers needing/wanting to put more women as playable and main characters in some of the games which would appeal to more females and thereby increasing the fanbase of console gaming. Taking forever to get them into mainstream it seems. I guess it's hard to implement implant physics or something? I could have gotten my wife a little interested for crying out loud. I guess better late than never.Comment

I've read multiple places where Cliff B. has said he's not the biggest fan of the way people play Gears 1 and 2 online. Too much shotgun and chainsaw for his taste. His original vision was a game where people would constantly be using cover, firing out of cover, etc. So perhaps some of the changes highlight a move towards the type of game Cliff B. wanted all along. If that's that the case then that sucks. Instead of embracing the fans for the way they play the game he would basically be saying **** you to the fans because they don't play it the way he envisioned it.

It looks like this has been taken off of XBL, since they spoiled Cliffy's Monday announcement.
There is a petition on Facebook for EPIC to bring Alex 'Alexandra' Brand to Gears 3. She is from the comic book series. I think it would be great and it could bring a whole new dynamic to the story if done right.
I know there were many that disliked Amy of Two: 40th Day, but I thought that game was well done for being a Gears clone. I hope that EPIC can take a few notes from that game with regards to stiffness. AO2 also runs on the Unreal 3 engine, but character movement is not as stiff as Gears has become. That is one major complaint that I have.
I am also hoping that they do a better job with the transitions between the action and cutscenes. A lot of times I felt like I was moving from set piece to set piece.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 04-09-2010, 01:28 PM.Comment

-Rod confirmed 4 Player Co-Op in the Gears IRC, with 4 unique characters. Rod confirmed that co-op includes Marcus, Dom, Cole, Baird and a "variety of other characters"
Story
-Set 18 months after Gears of War 2, and after the fourth Gears of War book
-The location shown in the "Ashes to Ashes" trailer is a location nicknamed 'Char', where the remains of victims from the Hammer of Dawn strikes are heavily present.
