Re: Civilization V

Not much yet, the R.E.D. mod looks nice, I'll be using that in my next game. Also going to be using one of the many clocks that can be found in the in game browser, along with the True Start Earth map. I'll report back with thoughts. All of those are on the in game browser (genius idea)Comment

Re: Civilization V
Love the map! Now I'm thinking about restarting just to use it.

I'll also be using the Economy Mod, which seems to be well received on the forums. I'll be updating as I progress through the game (Eepic speed, Huge map).Comment

Re: Civilization V
It's great.
Accidentally set the speed to standard (didn't realize it 'till the AD's), but am still enjoying this immensely. Started as Nepolean (wanted to be in the middle of Europe, where most of the action was likely to unfold), immediately met England, Germany, and Rome. After a bit, Germany and Rome declare war in the same turn. Thankfully, I had the cash to buy a warrior to fend them off, afterwards I took Berlin on the counter attack, settled with Rome. It's been great fun, enjoyign the mods.
On a side note, steam's browser rules.Comment

France is my Favorite Civ to use so far, their Special Units are great and the Extra Culture is excellent. I was browsing the Civfanatics board and saw this mods, it looks like a must download:It's great.

Communitas is a community-made expansion pack for Civilization V. We started this project because we believe Civilization is a fantastic game, and we want to perfect it while remaining as close to the core experience as possible. Visit communitas.wikia.com to learn more about the project...
I just noticed the Steel Foundry on the the Civ Browser, it increases production 20%, it costs 3 Iron and 1 coal but it is a late era building so its nice that we do not just sit around with unused Iron.Last edited by Cusefan; 10-02-2010, 10:19 PM.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Civilization V
I'm definitely trying to move toward a cultural victory in this game, not really sure where I stand, considering this is my first full game. I think I have a cultural lead, but I'm not sure. I also have to stop building temples and monuments right now since I'm currently at war with the other budding power in the world, Askia. I turn my gaze to the East and all of a sudden he has taken Egypt, who previously held Greece. I have another civ (who dragged me into the war) and a city-state on my side, but they haven't really done much, not even sure if they mobilized any kind of army.France is my Favorite Civ to use so far, their Special Units are great and the Extra Culture is excellent. As for favorites, I enjoyed Japan's Bushido ability (units fight as if they have full health). It helped out when capturing cities.Last edited by Whitesox; 10-02-2010, 10:33 PM.Comment

I'm starting to get a little interested in this game by reading this thread. Haven't played a turn based stratedy in forever and this seems like it could be fun.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Civilization V
The mighty Askia brought to his knees...

And to think, I was willing to settle for the gems 15 turns earlier. I was planning on turning Africa into my puppet, but this was tooooooo good to pass. Since the excess happiness of my empire goes to my culture total, all of these luxuries are awesome.Comment

Re: Civilization V
I probably could have pressed and gotten some cities, or I could have just taken them and all that stuff, but I don't want his cities. The required amount for a social policy goes up with each city you have, so it is in my best interest to stay away from increasing city size. I did keep Heliopolis as my puppet, though.

Re: Civilization V
Wow, I thought the deal I got from Wu Zetian when I was playing as Augustus was good. (She attacked me because I was small, apparently underestimating the power of the Roman Legion, and after I destroyed every unit she sent at me begged for peace before I could even get into her territory.) That deal is just ridiculous. Well done.Impact de Montréal

Re: Civilization V
Yea I learned taking over another Civ is generally not a great idea. The Unhappiness it creates is huge, the cities barely create anything, and they just drag down healthy cities. I suppose if you are going to take over another Civ, the best way to go about it is set all the cities up as puppet States and annex cities individually. I did it all at once and boy did it hurt, it absolutely crippled my empire. The other leader just gave me 90% of his empire to stop the war but the problem was 7 cities had resources around them and 2 were built in the middle of a desert with nothing near them.I probably could have pressed and gotten some cities, or I could have just taken them and all that stuff, but I don't want his cities.
