Re: Civilization V
More Features. Civ V is basically a stripped down version of Civ IV with better combat and better graphics.
Personally I love Civ IV because you can get lost in it. Instead of trying to beat the game, the most fun is had when you are just trying to build up your empire. Basically with IV, beating the game is a afterthought because the journey to the end is so much fun. With V, It seems like beating the map is the only thing that matters...My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Civilization V
civ 4 is considered by the fanatics as a close-to-perfect game...
civ 5 is criticized for tons of reasons, most related to over-simplification, i think...
i am playing 5 and liking it, but i must admit, i often felt overwhelmed by 4... like there was TOO much going on, too many options, and unclear about how some things worked...
civ 5 has addressed that for ME - but i think it has pissed off the more hardcore players...Comment

I would also like to know. I've been a HUGE fan of Civ IV & want to know if V is a worthwhile buy."In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." - Vin Scully

Re: Civilization V
Hey guys, got this game for $20 yesterday. It runs pretty slowly on my computer. I have 3 gb RAM, and recommended is 4 gb.
Is that what is making the game run slowly, or is it something else?University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: Civilization V
Actually this game is processor intensive and graphically intensive now as well. I 3 gb could be an issue, but I doubt it. You are more likely hitting a stumbling block with either processor or video card.
Amazon is having an $8.99 weekly special on this as a download. I should have posted this on the specials for youComment

Re: Civilization V
If I had to pick one game and only one game to play forever it would be Civ because the depth. I have been thinking about starting a new epic for months but I know the time commitment. I think i am close to making that step now. Great news! CIV IV was so it good its going to be tough to top but I am sure they will do it. Can't wait!

Re: Civilization V
I'm surprised no one has bumped this considering the expansion came out today.
I love the new additions, including, of course, the two big ones. I thought religion was OK but nothing great in 4, but the one they put in the expansion for 5 is awesome. Religions really do something, and if you're on the forefront you even get to shape one. As for espionage, I hated it in 4, but my limited experience with it in 5 has been really good. Less of a watch-the-numbers-pile-up crapfest and more of a scaled down strategic element.
If you liked 5 at all, I highly recommend the expansion. It could have been bundled with the main game and released as "Civ6" and people probably would have ate it up.Impact de Montréal

Once I set Diablo down for a while I'll probably get the expansion...these are two massive timesinks of games. But I have been eager to see how much it's improved.Comment

Re: Civilization V
Bought Civ V a couple weeks ago on Steam. Never played a Civ before, so I wasn't exposed to what they took out of the game from the previous versions. I have no idea about probably 90% of things that can be done in the game and I still love it! And for my birthday, my brother just gifted me the G&K expansion. As if I wasn't already behind on the learning curve. Can't wait to dive into this thing in the coming days.Comment

Re: Civilization V
It was my first Civ game as well so I had, and will still have, a lot of fun with it. I guess that may have been one of the benefits of never playing any beforehand.Bought Civ V a couple weeks ago on Steam. Ok so since this is my first time ever playing a Civ game, is there anything I can read to really teach me the intricacies of the game? I understand that certain buildings give my city production, for example, but what does that really do?Comment
