    Can't wait for these!

The guy in the Karkand video wouldn't spot anything to save his life! Running out in front of those tanks wasn't very wise either, luckily they were a terrible shot too.

@ 1:18 in the Gulf of Oman video, LOL. The exchange on top of the perch was funny too... that's why I love Battlefield so much.

      Re: Battlefield 3

So there I was, just re-spawning on the US side of Operation Firestorm after being killed. As luck would have it, a tank miraculously spawns in front of me to transport me back to the action to seek revenge on the sniper that had previously ended my life so abruptly. As I made my way back toward the construction area, all alone with the tank full speed, I noticed a helicopter that had been hit and was going down fast off in the empty field to my left. The pilot and the gunner managed to bail out of the doomed aircraft and deployed their parachutes and were floating smoothly back to earth. I quickly veered that way to investigate the situation.

As the tank approached the two soldiers, they both seemed confused. Neither attempted to engage the tank with their weapons. Maybe they were both assault class and didn't have any weapons that would challenge the tank. They seemed to look at each other and pause. After a few second stand off, they both ran as fast as they could toward the construction area which was quite a distance from their current position. So off they ran, hand in hand, hoping for the best out of this perilous situation. I kept both of them within the turret crosshairs on the tank as they ran for cover.......

What will I do? Should I take the lives of these soliders that have no defense against the powerful weapons I had at my disposal and allow them to possibly reak havoc on my other team/squad mates??? Would that be the right thing to do???? Is it ethical to end their lives this way?????

        Re: Battlefield 3

I had an insane match on Operation Metro on defense in Rush. So they had made their way up to the subway station upstairs part with the ticket booth station, and they already destroyed A. I was being a Sniper Class so I could put down the respawn radio, so I equiped the 870. After i put down the radio in the ticket booth, I see a guy run from the back escalator to b. I figured "it's one guy, he doesn't see me coming, I'll get the drop on him" So I run over to B and turn the corner and his squad spawned in him and now that one guy I saw turn the corner had multiplied by 4.

I literally jumped out of my seat.

..and then did what came naturally - pressed the trigger. In my freaked out panic mode, I somehow put their squad down in 2 shots. Then disarmed and then ran down the hallway next to B. I run down all the way to the end, and guys start coming in from the side stairway, and I am laying them out 1,2,3 at a time. My squad just put ammo and health by me and just sat back in awe. I couldn't half believe it myself.

Then I saw their ticket count go down to 1 so i ran out and tried to take the last one but got then got shot down nasty.

I'll take it though. I wish i recorded that game

Had a pretty funny moment tonight playing conquest on nosehair canals. I was driving a humvee toward flag A which my team was in the process of capturing. I got to about 100 yards (feet? meters? whatever it is) from the flag and an enemy parachuted right in front of my vehicle. No sooner did his feet touch the ground than my humvee plowed right over him. I was loling hysterically to myself.

In short: I love this game.

Can't wait for the Back to Karkand Expansion pack to come out so I can start playing this game again.

I haven't played this game in awhile until tonight, turned it off after one game. The maps are terrible to me. They don't feel like "Battlefield" maps. No flow, no vehicle flow, too many tight choke points, etc.

So I'm very looking forward to the new expansion!

Anybody get that 3rd seat perk in the tanks yet where you can laser spot with the tank? If so do you like it better than the SOFLAM?

                  Re: Battlefield 3

I've read from a few posters in other forums that not installing the disc to the hdd actually provides slightly better/sharper textures compared to when the disc is installed (Xbox 360). Noticeable texture pop-in is also said to be reduced. I'm not referring to the HD texture pack, which obviously needs to be installed to get the best visuals, but instead am referring to simply installing the disc itself. It appears that like most other games that use streaming texture technology (Skyrim, Halo, etc.), not having the disc installed actually provides the better visual experience. Has anyone else experienced this? If not, would others mind investigating the matter?

Really? You were able to spot with the grounded repair robot?

I swear I kept trying over and over. Got nothing.

Now that I've learned so much about the maps, they have all sort of grown on me. Caspian Border offers some ridiculous flanking routes. People who take the main roads are out of their mind.. there's so many ways to approach each MCOM, except the last two.. which still have several ways in (flank vehicles, tanks, choppers and parachutes, etc)..

The squad explosives perk is awesome for Caspian Border, when everyone is using engineer and has 6 mines to lay down.. nothing is coming in close.

I love the big maps when I can get up high and get a good sight line of at least two flags for long range spotting, marksman shots and mobile spawn point in between the two flags. Might only get like 4 kills but spot bonuses like crazy. Especially if I have active non idiot squad/teammates.

I only like Caspian Border. Operation Firestorm and Kharg Island, IMO, have no flow at all too me. When I think of Battlefield maps, I think of big, open, destructible environments like Bad Company 2 had. Not these maps like Operation Firestorm where the only thing that is destructible is walls.... Operation Firestorm Rush, first set of objectives. Nothing there can be blown up aside for the 4 big white fuel tanks in the middle. You can fire all you want at the main structures, but it won't do anything. Thus, everyone just hides in there. If this was Bad Company 2, I'd just slowly blow the building apart so the enemies have to run out. Not in Battlefield 3.

I understand that you can't have the entire map fully destructible, but when you go on about this "destruction 2.0" stuff showing off walls and buildings slowly getting destroyed and blown apart, but yet in retail the only thing like that are general random walls that you can blow holes into, the maps then have no flow.

This is why I can't wait for Back to Karkand and the improved destruction. Being able to take out buildings and such to turn the tide of the game is what makes Battlefield to me, Battlefield. If I wanted main buildings to be indestructible, I'd play Call of Duty, which I currently am now until Back to Karkand comes out.

Comparing the building destruction to BC2 is laughable to me as the "buildings" in BC2 were nothing more than houses and small structures.....the buildings in BF3 are actual buildings with (i'm sure) steel frame construction.....now,with that being said....I only play conquest, and on Kharg Island there's buildings by the "B" flag that for some reason can't be fully destroyed....but other than that I feel the destruction is pretty good considering WHAT you are attempting to destroy, which is MAJOR buildings, and not some measly little houses.

When I mentioned destruction in Bad Company 2 I just mean't the scale, not the buildings. I know the buildings were nothing more than just houses and small structures, but those small structures and such could be full demolished. On the map Cold War, every single building could be brought down to a bunch of rubble, couldn't be done easily, but it could be done. Whereas in Battlefield 3, this just simply can't be done.

That's what I mean when I mention destruction, it's there in Battlefield 3, but nowhere near to the extent it was in Bad Company 2. That's the thing I just dislike about Battlefield 3.

So hopefully this "improved destruction" for the Back to Karkand maps makes the buildings and such be taken down or badly damanged much like Bad Company 2's buildings were.
