Re: Battlefield 3
Had to cut it short fellas..
I got to be at work tomorrow at 6am.. won't ever go to bed if I don't quit now.
I started getting the feeling our squad was the only ones trying to actually get to and plant the bomb. I started off on fire, but once they knew where we were going (b), the same thing happened to us that happened to them and we just couldn't get it planted..Comment

I think if we had 10 more tickets left we would have got it. When we flanked and was trying to come in from behind I had just taken out the guy who was prone on top of the container, but as soon as I took him out the match ended. He was the reason we couldnt get through from the front. We were able to take everyone else out but he was so hard to get because you had to get around the corner then aim up and by the time you do all that its to late because he has to just aim in one spot and shoot down the narrow hallway.
I had to bail also. I will be back on tomorrow afternoon.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
A few words of advice from my experience. This doesn't apply to you guys - I actually need to play with the OS 360 guys more, but something I noticed with playing with people in general.
First how NOT to be a good team player:
1) People who play the same class no matter what's going on in the game.
Before you spawn, stop and ask your squad what's going on, what do they need. Obviously if you need to spawn on them in a hurry (like they need backup at an armed MCOM station) time is not a luxury but otherwise ask and see if your squad mate needs ammo, a tank taken out, or smoke cover, then change your load out. Don't avoid a class because you can't shoot well with their weapons. That's what the generic class weapons are for.
2) People who say they are guarding the objective but wonder towards the action and no longer have a visual on the objective
For the love of god, if you're in the subway playing rush on operation metro, and you say you're guarding A, yet you are not in the room or on the side looking at the doorway, YOU ARE NOT GUARDING IT. Maybe it's just me but I have absolutely no problem with watching a door, MCOM, flag for a whole game even if it means I get 4 kills the whole match. That is the definition of guarding it. It takes 1 second to arm an mcom station, so if you are 4 seconds away from it, tell the rest of your team you're outside handling some business and you no longer are watching it.
3) People who are trying to level up a class/weapon/vehicle.
Obviously, we are all trying to do this, but when it becomes a priority in a game, do your squad mates a favor and leave the squad. You can still talk in party chat, well at least on XBox you can (Zing! @ PS3), but if you're going to be the guy flying in the jets the whole game, and you're not working with your team (taking out laser targets, etc), don't join a squad. If you're out 3 football fields away from the objective trying to break your record for longest headshot, don't join a squad. You are doing a disservice to your squad because if the rest of them die, they have to choose between spawning on you or the deployment base. Plus a lot of people spawn on their teammates assuming they are where the action is. Also keep in mind if you're using Mortars no one can spawn on you (which is really stupid).
4) Don't just spawn and start shooting
This is probably one of my biggest pet peeves. I like to work in stealth a lot, very patient, calculating and waiting until people are distracted before I move up. So you can understand when it annoys the hell out of me when someone spawns on me and just opens fire letting the whole team know there's somebody in the building next to their mcom station. Obviously this guy wasn't talking or listening. Also with tanks or jeeps, even though they are quite large they are still quite capable of rolling up and surprising people. That element of surprise greatly deteriorates when your copilot jumps in and just starts shooting for appears to be no reason at all. Or trying to shoot down a jet/helicopter that has no idea we are there in the first place. Obviously if your teammates are firing when you spawn, then go ahead and open fire. There's an open fire in place, but understand there's also hold fire scenario and if you do not see something as an immediate threat, you don't have to shoot at it.
Also, I also invite anyone to do the co-op mission Exlfitration and try to do the first part without setting off the alarms. It's actually pretty simple, especially if you played splinter cell, but that type of coordinated attacks ("We go on 3..") is vital in a lot of situations online. I don't know if you any of you remember the game Lemmings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SgDS-16UFA), but I've seen a number of times people on my team just running into death traps like Lemmings. Uncoordinated. That doesn't work unless the other team is uncoordinated. You move up as a squad, you regroup with your squad and you attack in unison as a squad. Obviously this is a lot more difficult if you're not communicating.
I'm guilty of a lot of these things and I have to check myself from time to time, but honestly I've seen many games turn around when I start thinking about how can my squad achieve the objective rather than how can I achieve the objective.
Lastly, Also for people that have issues with bottle neck areas, you really need to think tactical. Tight quarters - shotguns, suppression fire (like it's meant to be used - firing to PREVENT people from coming into an area), RPGs, grenade launchers, flak jackets, plenty of ammo/health laying around, smoke grenades. Also if you break through, don't run straight for the objective while your squad is stuck behind. Find cover and provide them with cover so they can advance up to your position (either that or wait for them to respawn on you).
Anyway after I take this test, I need to get some more games with the Xbox guys. Candyman, Rugged, Harry, dominick and the othersLast edited by iLLosophy; 11-10-2011, 08:59 AM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 3
I am also like you in trying to stay hidden as much as possible using more stealth tactics than anything else and when guys spawn on me gun blazing without a silencer I get frustrated.
I think the biggest point you made is choose your class based on what the situation is and what will help your team the most. Some maps and situations call for a majority of people to run as engineers to make quick work of the enemy vehicles. Other times you need that support guy to lay down ammo and suppressive fire to help you get from point A to point B. Some well times mortar fire can really help. Also if you want to play as recon spot, spot, and spot some more. We can all admit a couple good snipers can pin down your team by spotting you to their teammates and picking you off when you get into the open. If you play recon don't just sit there waiting for the perfect shot. Your shots suppress the guy you shoot at, so spot them, shoot at them, and if you miss it gives those of us closer to the action a chance to finish them off.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Didn't want to clog up my post with everything you wrote, but I agree with all of it. I will admit from time to time I get complacent and just run in trying to do everything on my own.

I always wonder what teammates are thinking when a couple choppers and wreaking havok and dropping off attackers constantly and I'm the only one firing rockets. It's more infuriating when I'm on a squad of engineers and I see they're ignoring the choppers (do people really not switch launders based on context?). Even more infuriating when I'm playing as an engineer and have squad explosive ammo on so I know they should have plenty of rockets.
-----
Not enough players use a silencer while attacking, at least while carrying an assault rifle. I take a lot of care to keep an eye on the mini-map for firing blips while defending and I'm sure others do too. I find the silencer to be indispensable. Just watch a few opposing players starting spinning around when they see a teammate go down because they don't know where the shots came from right away and the value is obvious. Maybe 300 hours of BC2 made all this more obvious to me.

The squad perks are beastly. I was in a group where one of us had sprint, another ammo, and the third explosive ammo and it was like heaven as a bunch of engineers. Mines and rockets everywhere, little need to be conservative with bullets, and speeeeeeeed.Comment
