So what is the biggest map R* has created? Noire or RDR? How many miles are both games anyone know?

Edit:And this link is no new info so don't get excited.

I believe Rock* stated the in-game L.A. Noire map is eight square miles.

"Largest game" does not mean their largest map. I really hope it does and that we are getting SF and LV, but as of right now, we only have Los Santos and a few "surrounding areas".

The hydra(fighter jet) was fast as hell in the trailer. I expect this map to be massive, hell the RDR map was big enough for me lol. Only a day after the trailer at and I can't stand the wait.

All I can do now is go to the GTA forums read and look at the trailer. Ugh...**forever alone**rage face**.

Edit:^ And it should at least be as big as RDR or Noire. Do you not expect it to be? I expect it to be bigger even if only a little bit.

Without a doubt, GTA V will be the biggest map to date.

It would seem like they would make this the biggest map. Seems like every R* like Rdr and Noire they just wanna make the map bigger than the last one.

I expect quite a bit of old characters to be mentioned. Wish Samuel L Jackson was in this one like his son grew up looking for his dads killer and became a cop. I expect to see a lot of old faces or mentioning names.

I have no doubt the map will be the largest ever. It does seem like SF and LV are out which kinda sucks in a way as I was hoping the lear jet would play a big role and you actually get to fly it from one end of the map to the other. Maybe it's still possible though "shrug"

Loved reading that analysis about why R* chose now to start the marketing and such. It'd be a real hoot to see them release the game just as E3 is starting up.

With this being GTA V, I highly doubt we'll see or hear any mention of past characters. The numerals are different universes in a sense. Rockstar has stated this many times before. When they went from the III era to GTA IV, they said everyone from the III universe did not exist in the IV universe. It's still the same locations like Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas, but it's like the characters never existed. With them going from IV to V, I'm pretty sure we're not going to hear any familiar names like Belic, McReary, etc.

                    I agree.
But, I think we might AT LEAST hear similar GTA: SA names and streets. I am not sure if CJ's house. But, I think some of the street names might be there and some names might get mentioned. Like they MIGHT mention CJ and what happened.

                      That would be pretty awesome.

Well here is some unfortunate news

Quashing the rumours of a return to San Andreas, they have confirmed that we're heading back to Los Santos only, but with the inclusion of "surrounding hills, countryside and beaches".

Guess this answers the question of just having one city

Disappointing but like I said, just looking at the detail in the trailer I can see why it's only Los Santos.

Despite this news being about 12 hours old already, I just want to say that I don't think this map will still be as insignificant as people are making it. Just because it doesn't have San Fierro and Las Venturas doesn't mean that it doesn't have other "main" or biggish cities/towns. I doubt that the only big buildings we see in the game are the half-dozen skyscrapers sticking out of the L.A. skyline. Furthermore, Rockstar of all people should know that countryside works best when it's part of a destination to something greater. You wouldn't stick downtown right in the middle, then just have random countryside all around it. They still go to somewhere else.

I'm still hoping for a San Diego knockoff of some sort.

The key thing to take out of that was "largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created."

Sounds like this one is going to MASSIVE!
