I am stuck at the Gaping Dragon. I just can't seem to get away from him quickly enough. Sigh.

It's not so bad once you figure out the pattern. Try removing all of your armor so that you can run faster. Keep your distance until you see him raise up in the air and slam down. He will be stunned for a few seconds and you should be able to get two or three hits. Immediately run away since he will charge forward and pause for a bit, and just wait until he does his slam again and repeat. Also be sure to take out the wizard first on the upper level if you haven't already.

EDIT: You can also try cutting off his tail if you want an Axe.

Cut off the tail first; not only will you get the Axe he drops, but it will also prevent him from using his tail on his sweeping attacks.

A tip for preparing for life without the Drake. Farm the slimes in the depths in that hallway with the bonfire. Green titanite shards drop, though you may need to be human as it seemed they dropped when I was anyway. One a weapon is +5 you can start using that to ascend the weapon for more damage.

Solaire is available to help with the Gaping Dragon if you're human though he usually bites it early. With him distracting it you can cut off its tail for the Dragon's Great Axe. The boss is pretty easy to stay far away, let it do its head smash and eventually it will "charge" the direction its facing. Rush in hack run out. Rince and repeat but watch for the acid bath at about 1/3rd health. Run very far away when that's coming.

Anyone thought about upgrading the Shotel? Not that strong to start but its strong attack bypasses the enemy guard. Contemplating taking the time to grind to level it (and myself) up. I'm at Sens Fortress and I feel underpowered despite my Magic Morningstar doing absurd damage. I'm really trying to get 20000 souls to open the shortcut in Darkroot so I can farm souls. BUT SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS TO KILL ME. ALWAYS.

Side note joined a covenant and checked the player roster....why is the top user at level 3100. Yes. 3100. Every attribute at 99.

It all depends on you. I've been killed by someone who upgraded to whip and added fire damage. A good way to farm souls is find a spot close to a barnfire and a boss and leave your soul sign there so someone can summon you.

I farmed the tree guys 7 a time to get to 20000. Using the bonfire next to the door ur trying to unlock.

I don't think that is possible. I have a feeling this game is going to be collecting dust for awhile with BF3.

I've never even played it, but one of my friends posted on facebook that he finally beat it after 147 hours... took him 25 tries on the final boss.

I believe the AI can invade your game if you're playing offline.

There is an npc that invades 3 times.

There are a few different invaders in the game.... Sometimes when you kill them, you can summon them for certain boss fights....

Ah, that makes sense. Hell, might as well play online if that is the case. I was avoiding online due to invaders.

I get invaded about 90% of the time when I am not hollow. Mostly because I changed covenants about 8 times. But also because I am a prick for dropping eyes of death all the time because I am a Gravelord servant.

I'd say my success rate is about 50/50 for dealing with invaders. The people who are really quick almost always get me. But I destroy anyone else.

But, I have yet to be able to invade someone else. I can't tell you how many cracked red eye orbs I've wasted.
