    Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)

Actually I am playing this right now .

Been playing it off and on again for the past month or so.

I'm on my second playthrough, but I started a new character because I don't really like the way my other character ended up. Just got past Gaping Dragon at level 22, and am now entering Blighttown for the first time .

I popped in Demon's Souls the other day, and there were still quite a few people on. The 360 community is not great, or at least I am not seeing too many people like when the game first came out. I wish I would've gotten this for PS3, but my PS3 was broken back when this came out. Eh, I may just be a little under-leveled.

Ok, I need a little help pointing me where to start lol. I finished the tutorial boss easy, but after that I can't decide which way to go. I've gone through multiple areas, the dragon on the cliff kills me in a few hits, the 2 skeletons just overwhelm me and I die quickly. That cave with the slow giant guy, I feel I have the best chance against him as he's slow, but I still get caught eventually and die. What's the best direction to start from? Oh ya, the ghosts too. I can't do anything to them so I doubt I'll be going that way.

There's an "exploit" with the Hellkite dragon and using it actually gives you some help in the end game.

From the firelink shrine, There is one path leading up the hill. You definitely want to go that way first. Regarding the rest of that area, you will have a couple roadblocks waiting for you at the bottom of two different stair cases later on in the area guarding some decent items. But keep going up. You might be able to take the first knight if you're really good, but don't bother going down the stairs in the big tower, you will get destroyed at your level. Keep going up until you run into a boss called 'Taurus Demon'. That is the boss you want to be fighting first.

There is a merchant at the bottom of a somewhat hidden set of stairs before you reach the first bonfire, the two challenging knights are after that bonfire.

Definitely no ghosts or skeletons at your level. The giant guys aren't too bad, but that area is typically for a little bit later. After those guys it actually gets worse.

The Dragon in Valley of the Drakes you will be able to take care of soon if you want once you get a little more powerful weapon(s) and/or a bow. But there is nowhere to go after beating him really, so it'd just be for the items.

I've already made a few trips there to grab the items then proceed to die. Also, I don't see a path up a hill? I might be overlooking, but all I end up going towards is a bunch of skeletons.

From the bonfire, it is in completely opposite the direction of the paths to the graveyard and the elevator going down to New Londo/valley of drakes. There's like a bridge/tunnel up there, head for that.

I got past the Taurus Demon

I was wondering how do I get involved in the multiplayer aspect? Do I get a stone like in Demon's souls and place a sign? I have yet to interact with anyone yet, no invaders, no one to summon, and I don't think I have a stone to place a soul sign.

you have to revive to human at a bonfire to get summoned, see summon signs and have people invade. All that stuff only happens when you're human and not undead.

At the end of the bridge you fought Taurus demon on, turn right and talk to the guy standing on the balcony to get a white soapstone thing, to drop your sign. You can drop it pretty much anywhere unlike in Demon's souls, except for around certain bonfires. You might want to pick up and drop the stone every minute or so if you are looking to get summoned.

For invading, there are many different ways. Some covenants are focussed on use of invading and they will call on you to protect the covenant, there is also a stone that you get later in the game to drop for someone that wants to battle, or you can use cracked red eye orbs at any time. I don't remember when you get your first of those, but I have been invaded prior to the boss after taurus demon, so I know you can get them relatively early, I just couldn't tell you where. But, invasions still fail quite often.

To be summoned, you can be either alive or dead. To summon, you must be alive. And to invade, I think you must be alive.

You will likely see signs when you get around the Undead church boss fight which should likely be the next boss you face.

Alright cool, I talked to the guy on the balcony, didn't realize he gave me something. I found the cracked red orb thing somewhere too. Is the undead church that armored boar? I gave him a try and he whooped my *** like 5 times before I was done for the night.

Basically. It's that same area. That's just a mini boss .

How do you upgrade weapons? I read you upgrade weapons at the bonfire, but I don't see an option to do so.

There is a blacksmith coming up. He can upgrade your weapons and armor and also sells the things you need to be able to upgrade at bonfires.

BTW do you have the Drake Sword? That is the best you can do for a weapon until you come across a black knight weapon or have found the embers to be able to upgrade past +5. It is relatively quick, has low stat requirements, and does a ridiculous amount of damage for early in the game. It becomes obsolete later on because it doesn't scale.

                                Getting the Drake Sword:
