    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Hearthfire dropped today on PSN for the low, low price of $2.49.

Will buy later and report back. Always wanted to build my own house. Vlindrel was getting boring.

I don't know if that would be the I would go about things. I just think it might be more fun if you finished the main Solstheim quest before you finish the main Skyrim quest. There's one skill you learn over there that might be helpful in Skyrim. That's all I can say without spoilers.

I'll post this here for people building houses.

        1. Make plenty of nails, iron fittings, and other smithing things in the beginning to save time.

        2. You CAN cut your own logs. Although, I only know how to do this in Riverwood. You'll need to look up other sawmills on your own.

You need to cut some firewood (only takes one) before you talk to Hod about cutting your own logs. Sell him your firewood, then ask about buying logs. The next selection of choices will let you buy 20 logs for 200 or you can ask him about cutting your own wood. He'll then allow you to use the sawmill to cut your own logs, which will be free.

After the entire sawing animation plays out and the split log settles on the pile, it will take approximately 13 seconds for a message in the upper left corner to confirm 10 logs added to your inventory.

You can keep doing this for as long as you feel, but as soon as you leave Riverwood or a day passes (I don't know which) you will need start the process over again.

I am level 15 right now. I have not done too much on the main quest. I am debating when I should start dragon born...

Also download Hearthfire when I get home.

So is it looking safe to get this game for PS3 now that this latest patch has dropped? I reluctantly avoided the game after reading about all the issues. Since it's on sale at Target this week I'm thinking of snatching it up...assuming the freezing and fame rate problems are taken care of.

Never had a problem with this game and it's coming up on one year that I've had it.

Hearthfire is tedious as ****, but I do like the house I've built. Once I get it properly furnished it will blow Vlindrel away.

Also, still running smooth over here on PS3.

No luck for me with getting Heathfire to work on my PS3. It shows Hearthfires in the new DLC window, but nothing happens when I click on it. it looks like I'll have to stick with the vanilla game.

You have to be Thane of a certain hold, then a courier brings you a letter saying you can buy property.

I was already Thane of Falkreath, so I got the letter the first time I traveled to a city. Courier ran up to me and gave it to me.

I had already done one of the two missions for the Dawnstar property, so I asked the Jarl what else needed to be done. He told me to go kill a giant, I did, then the option came up to ask to buy land.

It's similar to getting property in Morthal, do some things for the people around town, then speak to the Jarl's steward about buying land. I never got a letter from a courier from either of those towns, but I have witnessed the courier for the Falkreath property.

I walked outside, some dude in a weird mask gave me a note, then he and his bro dude tried to kill me.

Maybe you aren't leveled up enough to get it to start (provided you started a new game)?

Do the first mission or 2 at High Hrothgar.

Already a level 28 but I haven't went to the Whiterun Jarl to start the main quest yet. That makes sense.

The most I have done was after the first trip up to High Hrothgar and before they wanted me to retrieve a scroll.

Like Dayman, I was just walking into Solitude (through the spiral stair case tower) to sell stuff when the same guy and his friend tried to kill me in the tower.
