      There's also the handy button.

I hope we can all adhere to the use of the tags.

I'd also suggest that we put some kind of preface to our spoilers so we know if we've already experienced that part for ourselves we can click the spoiler and join the discussion about it. Something like:

      Dungeon of Spoilers
      Spoiler

If people put their whole post as a spoiler I for one won't risk clicking on it.

        NOOOO.

1.) The fun of the game is discovering everything yourself.

2.) If you really need tips/hints you can get them for free online.

I'm surprised people still buy these things...

Different strokes for different folks. No way I don't buy a strategy guide for a game like this. Every big title I buy I get a strategy guide. Pretty much stay away from the SP portion but love reading all the different things that the game has to offer that otherwise I would have never known. Just me though

I'm not sure if I want to get the strategy guide with this or not.

I mean, half the fun with these games is the thrill of finding stuff.

OTOH, I have never gotten into the Elder Scrolls games because I've always been terrible at them...so maybe I should try it.

Will this game have the markers to tell you where to go like in Oblivion? I couldn't get into Morrowind because I had no idea what was going on.

                Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm hoping that Bethesda took up the more detailed friends list XMB/Dashboard route that you see some games utilizing.

Instead of just listing the game being played, some games (The Show does it GREAT) more precisely what your friends are doing.

                Instead of just:

                MabsterB
                Elder Scrolls V: Skryim

I want it to say things like:

                MabsterB
                Skyrim: Exploring Dungeon of Spoilers

                MabsterB
                Skyrim: Crafting Ingots

                MabsterB
                Skyrim: Delivering Message to Whiterun

                or even just

                MabsterB
                Skyrim: Level 13 Kahjiit

We'll see though, not many games take advantage of the dynamic status updates.

Yea, i'm picking up the guide for this one. I know i'm going to need it for something. The last guide I brought was for Final Fantasy 13. I know for a fact that I would not have beat that game with out it. It's all in how you use the guide. I usually read the stuff in the beginning that talks about the game and some of the stuff to get familiar with the game world. Then use it only when I am stuck or don't know where to go or what to do next.

I played Oblivion without one over the summer and it kind of got overwhelming as it was my first action RPG, especially in respect to leveling and what attributes to increase. Plus I had 30 dollars left over, so it was either sit on the money, buy the strategy guide, or buy a slightly old game that I will only play for a week. I went for the strategy guide option mainly because this has been my most highly anticipated game and I'd thought I'd buy the guide as well, and go all out.

Does that mean I'm going to read it page by page, and follow it word for word for how ever long I play Skyrim? Nope, I bought it more as a resource for reference than a crutch. So that is my rationalization for a strategy guide purchase, I feel it's pretty sad I have to give one though lol, and if I really cared I'd feel guilty about opening it.

I'm lucky enough to have Friday off, my employer observes Veteran's Day. But I'm still on the fence about this, I usually don't buy single player games until at least the first price drop. I still revisit Oblivion tho. I just don't knowwwww...

I was shocked when the guys at my local Gamestop said they are having a midnight opening for Skyrim as well as MW3 this week. 250 pre-orders, and its a pretty out of the way store.

Yeah my local gamestop is having one too, I'm thinking about going and making it my first midnight release. I'd definitely make it a day one purchase if you liked oblivion, as they have fixed the leveling issues and it seems like a more refined experience with excellent graphics. Speaking of oblivion, it's only game I've played for 50+ other than a sports game. I looked at how long I played once and I thought I was somewhere around 30 hours, turned out it was more like 45 hours, so that tells you how engrossing and fun an experience Elder Scrolls can be, time does fly when playing it lol.
