Re: The Witcher 2 (PC for now)
I just finished The Witcher (Director's Cut/Enhanced Edition) and I have now just started The Witcher 2. Good gawd is this wicked! After playing thru most of Dragon Age II, it's frackin' nice to look at different locations, mature themes, boobs and an overall GREAT RPG experience. I haven't felt this hooked on a real RPG since, well, I can't even remember (Mass Effect 1/2 may count but I almost look at that as action titles).
The timing for this game to drop could've have been better since I just upgraded my PC the week the game dropped. Everything on "Ultra" settings except ubersampling (though I may try it out just to see how my system can handle it) and it is gorgeous.
I'll try playing the game with the 360 controller. Totally fine with keyboard+mouse but if it's more intuitive with the controller, I'll go that route.Comment

Re: The Witcher 2 (PC for now)
I've been playing The Witcher 2 with the 360 controller and combat definitely feels more natural. I dislike everything that doesn't involve combat though, especially the inventory system. It's just way too cumbersome cycling thru things. If the developers fix that aspect with the 360 controller, it'll be perfect.
I spent around 2 hours going around Flotsam, exploring the place and interacting. And I've yet to start any major quest since I got there. I think I'm addicted.Comment

Gamespot E3: Xbox 360 Preview Impressions
Your more pressing question may very well be: How does it look? The version we saw was a pre-alpha build, so it did not represent how the game will look at release. But our first reaction was, "Hey, this game looks really great on the Xbox 360." CD Projekt is aiming for the equivalent of the PC version's medium settings on the Xbox 360, and we noticed some animation hitches, screen tears, and a few frame rate dips, but that's par for the course at this stage. The art design still shone through, and Gop was proud of how the art design was always the team's first concern with the visuals. He stated that even Witcher 2 players enjoying the game on low settings are incredibly pleased with how the game looks. The team's goal is to make sure that The Witcher 2 runs smoothly at 30 frames per second minimum. When released for the Xbox 360, The Witcher 2 will include any fixes and changes applied to the PC version to that point. In addition, just as on the PC, CD Projekt will not charge for downloadable content. That's significant, considering that the PC version has received a healthy number of downloadable packs already. Then, there's the other question we so commonly hear: Is the game coming to the PlayStation 3? According to Gop, The Witcher 2 is not an Xbox 360 exclusive, and the team is absolutely interested in bringing the game to Sony's platform. However, at this time, the team is focusing all of its efforts on the Xbox 360 version so that it is as refined, attractive, and playable as possible before tackling another project. CD Projekt Red hasn't announced a final release date, but it informed us that The Witcher 2 for the Xbox 360 will be released by the end of 2011.

Re: The Witcher 2 (PC) (360 soon)
So I finally ventured out of Flotsam the other day and fought a few monsters on my way to a quest. As I was fighting this crab like monsters, Nekkers suddenly decided to join the party and I was like "Crap! Gotta go rethink my strategy now." I'm backing away then all of a sudden, the crab monster hits one of the Nekkers, they get into a pissing contest then they proceed to destroy each other while I watch. Not only the did crab guys save me from more trouble, but they made it easier for me to defeat them once they were finished with the Nekkers.
I'm loving this game more and more.Comment

Re: The Witcher 2 (PC for now)
CPU: Intel Core i5 3.33 GHz (Sandy Bridge)
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 460 SE
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Resolution: 1440x900 (19inch LCD monitor that I'm reusing)
Price for my new PC? Less than $700. That's the part I enjoyed the most. At least until I tried playing games on it.
I've tried Uber Sampling but I found it sluggish compared to running the game without it. Also, I think the game looks almost the same on ultra without Uber Sampling. So, I'll go with what gives me smooth frame-rates.Comment
