What I find rather odd is that out of all of the people who have said they disliked Red Dead Redemption on here, all but one of them haven't even completed 10% of the game as per their achievements. Perhaps most of you guys never gave it a fair chance?

I could see someone who didn't take the time to get past the initial cattle herding/tutorial missions thinking it was "boring". I wonder if that's what happened, because that game is anything but boring.

I don't know about boring, but they were probably my least favorite of the game. I don't know if that was so much the missions, though, or if I just got impatient because I could sense the end was near.

And by that I mean the end of the game. Not the end of Marston. Didn't see that coming.

Well, the game has 95 achievemnts now, so anyone who packed it in a long time ago won't have the 45 DLC achievements obviously. LOL

I had 9 of the 50 achievements with retail. I was just bored of the wandering around. It just didn't hook me at all. Continuing to play it wouldn't have changed my mind.

I played it and beat it with a lot of achievements and thought it was overrated. I was tired of the same old go here, chase this, then horsey all the way across the damn country to finish things...rinse and repeat. I felt the same way about GTA IV and beat that one. The open world games haven't really hooked me since Bully, which I adore. I also haven't played Saints Row.

It's just tiring doing the same thing over and over, and Red Dead and GTA just wore on me. I don't know what it was but both games were an absolute chore to muscle through for me.

Now most overrated...I have no idea what game might fit that...

I felt that way about GTA4 for sure; that game seemed old to me 10 minutes in. But for whatever reason, even though the mechanic is essentially identical, I totally got into Red Dead and played the crap out of that game. It must be a combination of the scenery, the long, languid loping on horseback, the Old West mythology...all of which I'm a sucker for and have been waiting forever for someone to accurately capture in game form. Also, the action sequences in Red Dead are so much more fun than GTA4, where you are basically fighting the control scheme rather than enjoying the action. I dug the Dead-Eye mechanism, really loved long shoot-outs (especially ones where you had to slowly advance from behind cover), had a blast with the Henry Repeater, shooting off hats, shooting hangin' nooses, and generally exploring the vast western brush. I liked that the game had a southwest desert, a Mexican desert, and a Monatana/mountain west area, hitting all the major Western themes from Sergio Leone to John Ford to Henry Hathaway. I thought the story was masterful. In short, I thought that Red Dead, not GTA4, is the Rockstar piece de resistance of this generation, and deserving of the 10/10 that GTA garnered from some media outlets.

But, to each his own...I didn't actually set out to defend Red Dead in this post, it just kinda happened...I don't even remember my original point LOL...

Even though I initially started out enjoying it, Crysis 2 has vaulted to the top of my list. Waaaayyyyy overrated IMO. It all came down to travel to next open area, beat bad guys, travel to next open area, beat bad guys, travel to open area, ....... Not to mention, the gameplay wasn't anything revolutionary, and I can name plenty of games that looked better.

And I swear, if I had to hear the suit say "Cloak engaged" one more time... good Lord. I don't know who's stupid idea that was, but dude, I KNOW the cloak's engaged, I'm invisible now!

Sigh... end of rant, and I get why people enjoy the game, but it's just not for me.

I got Infamous as part of the welcome back thing and I really don't understand where all the hype came from. The story is stupid, the graphics are not good at all, the voice acting is horrible, the characters have no redeemable qualities, the "moral choices" are so binary that it's laughable, and the animations are really bad. Maybe the trailers for the second one just look really good but I don't get why anyone would've wanted a sequel to that game in the first place.
